Toyota has moved one step closer to producing its i-Real concept, announcing that it will be “commercialized” in the near future. The latest in a string of personal mobility designs, the i-Real further develops themes found in the PM, i-Unit and i-Swing. Featuring an adjustable wheelbase – it will shorten at low speeds and elongate to go faster – the three-wheeler will be capable of maneuvering naturally among pedestrians. And by lowering its center of gravity, will be stable at high speeds. Proximity sensors help prevent collisions while the “pleasant use of light and sound” should ensure that people are aware of its approach.
