125cc bikes typically fall into one of two categories: high-strung race replica’s like the Aprilia RS125, or bum basic commuters like Honda’s CBR125. Yamaha is attempting to bridge that gap with its new YZF-R125. In theory, it should have as much performance as European learners are allowed — 14.6bhp, to be exact — without the sky-high insurance premiums or fickle nature of more exotic fare. With 126kgs, the bike sounds a bit heavy. But to its teenage market, the YZF-R125′s flashy looks should more than compensate.
