f35helmet.jpgEngland’s Ministry of Defense has released this image of a helmet being evaluated for use with the upcoming F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. The two pods on the sides project moving images onto the helmet’s visor, allowing pilots to see through any part of their aircraft as they look around. It also displays in-flight data for navigating or fighting. The F-35 is being developed by Lockheed Martin and is set to replace the aging Harrier jump jet.

Heh heh heh… I’ve been very interested in this system. The helmet looks like something out of Star Wars and the technology involved is pretty close to. Add that to the jet it’s made for and you get some amazingly futuristic stuff.
