We’re not big cruiser fans. I guess we’re just waiting for something new to take place in the market, after, say, 60 years. But we find Ridley’s take on the Harley clone intriguing. Instead of pretending that its customers want performance, Ridley acknowledges that cruising is about taking it easy, in an uncomfortable sort of way. They make big, tough-looking, fringed leather–appropriate bikes with scooter transmissions. Yes, these choppers use a CVT. Actually, there’s a few other interesting things happening here: The instruments are delightfully simple and functional, and the black and white color scheme looks great. We wouldn’t be seen dead on one, of course, but it’s still nice to see someone doing something slightly different.
