Annie Leibovitz, considered one of the most iconic photographers alive today, has been given exclusive access to the set of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Her shots appear in the current issue of Vanity Fair.
But what has she given us? Pretty much the standard bike shot. One hand on handlebars, one on lap; one foot up, one foot down. We’ve seen it countless times. For Christ’s sake, the side stand is even down. Sure, her shot is better lit and it appears to take place in the same secret government repository that now houses the Ark, but that’s about the only difference. Our question is why? There are proven ways to shoot with a motorcycle and still look natural. The press shot for the Wild One is amazing. We don’t think we’re asking for too much, Ms. Leibovitz. We just want something better than standard shots of “guy with bike.”
