Cerevellum rearview camera looks behind you

bike-rearview-camera.jpgOn most bikes, the mirrors are little more than a legal requirement. Not only do they fail to show what’s behind you, but they also severely detract from the bike’s looks. Enter the Cerevellum rearview camera and bar-mounted display. Intended for bicycles, the 3.5” monitor doubles as a trip computer, speedometer and GPS locator. Plenty of riders already use cycle computers in place of clunky standard instruments. We can’t see any reason why the Cerevellum would work any differently.

I just found a new digital bicycle rear-view system which uses a head mounted display.

This is what the patent description says:

A rear vision system for providing a rider of a vehicle with an image of the view behind his vehicle independent of the rider’s head position, said system comprising;a video camera mounted to the vehicle and aimed at the vehicle’s rear view;a display, connected to the video camera for showing the live output video signal of the video camera, and worn on the rider’s head at a position visible to the rider;whereby the rider can safely and easily check his rear view at any head position.
