Moving Brands co-created the pattern for its new Weare scarf by inviting members of the public to contribute to its open-source design. To do so, they hung a matrix of Christmas lights in their London HQ’s window, displaying patterns as people emailed or texted them in. The sequence of displayed patterns was captured by a webcam, then reprinted, without alteration, on the scarf.
One of these has just replaced my old scarf, which was one of my favorite bits of motorcycle gear. It was used on a daily basis, with duties ranging from keeping my neck warm to cleaning my visor to blowing my nose. Once, I even used it as a sling for a broken arm. I’m going to try and treat the Weare with more care, or at least avoid getting snot on it.
