Bockerl creates new type of toy, the Roller Seat

bockerl_011.jpgBy mounting three small wheels in-line beneath a seat and handlebars, the designers at Bockerl hope they have invented a new skateboard-esque piece of sports equipment, the Roller Seat. Bockerl’s main advantage is its low, seated riding position, which should help overcome potential rider’s initial fears and lower the learning curve, all while heightening the sensation of speed by placing the riders close to the ground. Other obvious advantages over rollerblades or skateboards are the inclusion of a brake and the ability to use it both on- and off-road. More pictures follow the jump.>bockerl_08.jpgThe Bockerl looks fun, fast and intuitive to ride. Steering is by
motorcycle-style handlebars, while balance comes from using your feet
like outriggers. Its makers envision riders taking it to ski slopes for off-season runs, or with the optional ski attachment, for high-season runs.
Currently available in Japan, it retails for the equivalent of a rather
hefty $570.

Yeah, and even if you found a good slope, you’d probably hit a pot hole, go flying and knock your front teeth out.

Well, just don’t ride it down the levee and you’ll be fine. The exit ramp from the 310 bridge would be hot, though.

Even better! The Canal Place parking ramp. Totally smooth. All seven stories.
