Reactiv jacket puts signals where drivers can see them

Reactiv_jacket.jpgMichael Chen’s Reactiv jacket, the winner of a James Dyson Award for innovation, features multi-colored LED lights connected to accelerometers. The latter sense when you’re braking or throw up an arm to signal a turn, automatically activating the appropriate lights. A concept designed for bicyclists, we see no reason why the same technology couldn’t be applied to clothing for motorcyclists. By placing brake lights and turn signals where drivers can see them (up high and on the widest parts of the body), the Reactiv or a similar product could vastly increase signal visibility to the abjectly incompetent car drivers we’re forced to share the road with.
