2009-vmax.jpg197bhp, 122lb/ft, 143mph, 1679cc 65-degree v4, 4-valves per cylinder, gear driven cams, 309kg wet, YCC-T fly-by-wire throttle, YCC-I variable length intakes, a 5-speed gearbox with slipper clutch, shaft drive, ABS: This is the 2009 VMax. Priced at $17,990, it’s available to order now for November delivery.

>2009-Vmax-2.jpgAdditionally, the 2009 VMax features a cast aluminum frame that uses the engine as a stressed member, 52mm RWU forks and a monoshock at the rear. The suspension is fully adjustable. The radial front brakes feature wavy disks and 6-piston calipers in addition to the ABS. Only 2,500 bikes will be produced for the 2009 model year. The only color available is black.

2009-Vmax-1.jpgThe new VMax also features a prominent tachometer with a 9,500rpm redline and a huge shift light for drag racing. The speedometer and other instruments are located on the tank and use an organic electroluminescent display that’s supposedly exceptionally bright and easy to read.

2009-Vmax-3.jpgThe variable length inlets switch to their shortest length at 6,650rpm, which should provide a noticeable surge in power and acceleration. Expect the 2009 VMax to run the 1/4 mile in close to nine seconds.

    You sir are correct. Fixed.

  • desmostro

I can’t believe how ugly they made it. omg, It’s as if they tried to.

  • mullender

    143 mph ???
    that’s all ??
for the same money, some japanese
sport bikes or a mv F4 312r will do
    194 mph !!!!

  • NiteRod

I’m not sure what to think….but I know I don’t like it. I like the numbers but…….no, I don’t think so. 18 Grand!!!! no no no.

  • Dante' Nero

Cmon all tork and a 180 in the rear how about a 240 at least your going to need more rubber on the ground beside it would look chunky

  • p damato

whoever doesnt appreciate this bike just is ignorant to the nature of the beast, its not a 200 mph sport bike nor was it ever intended. And where are you going to use all that top end in the states those who brag about speeds like that, usually have never even felt triple digits on a bike. The rush my friends is hooking 200 bhp to the rear, red light to red light, if youre upset about the price, find out how much it would cost to set up a car or any fairly comfortable bike, to get you well into the 9 sec range. And remap the f.i, a good set of pipes….?

  • Justin

I completely agree with p damato. If your looking for top end, then get a crotch rocket. If you want to break tripple digits faster than a fighter jet, then get a power cruiser, zx-14 or’Busa. And, anybody who says this bike doesn’t look badace, well, I disagree there too. Plus, the swing-arm is designed for a 360 back tire to be put on just like those pipes arent supposed to stay on. This bike comes with sweet suspenstion, a drive shaft, and a slipper clutch. Where else are you going to find all that? … some people.

One more note: They’re not supposed to be available for delivery until January, not November.

i own a 2006 vmax ive put headers on and rejetted the carbs i do not like the looks of the new vmax BUT i want that engine!!that said would it be possible to put that new engine into my 06 vmax MORE POWER!! if anyone has suggestions or might know someone who i could discuss this with i would appreciate it

  • todd arnold

come on guys. they had to detune it five times before they released it. now think about the chip they are going to make for it. thats supposed to take off the detune and take it up to 220hp. and put an aftermarket exhaust, carb kit, cam. u can keep going, i bet u can get the thing up to 300hp and mabe 150 torque. THATS ONE BAD ASS BIKE!!!!!

    • Burt

It’s fuel injection,no need for carb kits anymore. Owning one I can tell you,it’s an unbelievable rush through the gears. I don’t think a Hayabusa or ZX14 will be able to beat this animal in a quarter mile if the traction problems are gotten rid of. Think over 100 ft lbs of torque as early as 3800 rpm!!! What does a 14 or busa have at 3800 rpm? Not even close. Yeah it has more weight but it has quite a bit more torque and horsepower as well!!

  • todd arnold

does anyone know if they put that butterfly for the v-boost on

  • Scott

I’ve had a 1st Gen VMax since ’99. This update is brilliant.

I think the bike is gorgeous. And I couldn’t care less if you don’t agree.

  • Dan Tadje

Dude, one bad lookin bike, with 200 hp asking to be unleashed for much more! You just tell me where to sign bud! I don’t need to go over 140 mph anyways, i value my life. But will enjoy gettin up to 140 probably too fast. And it probably wouldn’t be too hard to change that limit. The only reason i’ll get rid of my 86 vmax, is for the 09′.

  • clark

awesome bike, how could anyone not think this thing looks bad ass. hope to have one soon.

I think the new generation max is gorgeous. After having more fun than a person should be allowed to have on my ’88, I thought nothing would ever compare. I think that day has come.I would give my left n.. to ride the ’09. I agree that if you want the 180mph+ top end get a crotch rocket. If you want to pile up the asphalt the v-max will always be the king.
