Everyone’s favorite way to desensitize themselves to violence, Grand Theft Auto IV, is getting a new chapter. The Lost and Damned will be available for download exclusively for the Xbox 360 version of the game and adds an entirely new chapter of gameplay with unique characters, stories and missions; all surrounding the fictionary The Lost biker gang.

It’s somehow appropriate that a completely unrealistic fantasy world –
one where players enjoy complete freedom to cause mayhem — is getting
an add-on centered around the unrealistic myth of the criminal biker
gang. The Lost and Damned stars new character Johnny Klebitz, a leather
jacketed, no-helmet-wearing biker badass.
“Johnny is a very different character than Niko, with a very different
background,” says Dan Houser, vice president of creative development
for Rockstar Games. “I can’t go into too much detail on the story,
because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is
released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side
of Liberty City.”
It’s interesting to see The Lost and Damned coming so soon after the
Sons of Anarchy TV series and Hell Ride movie. All three provide major
cultural relativism to the whole Harley thing, coming at the tail end
of that trend’s popularity. We predict that Great Depression 2,
expensive gas and us poking lots of fun at them will massively
reduce the number of dentists dressing up in fringed leather chaps
every weekend and convincing themselves that they aren’t living out
some kind of latent homosexual fantasy. But it’s cultural artifacts
like this game for which this time in motorcycle history will be
remembered.
The Lost and Damned will be available for download on February 17, 2009.
