S1000RR_logo.jpgFebruary 11, 2009: Could the BMW S1000RR really be a 2008 Yamaha R6? We don’t know for sure, but this evidence raises questions. Exhibit number one: the first photo of the 2010 BMW S1000RR, which was released last week.

After watching we’re sure of one thing: George W. Bush knows more than he’s letting on.

i remember getting into a huge argument with the tards (ahmm….i mean peeps) over at ducatimonster.org on the styling of the S1000RR, i swear, no one was welling to admit that the style is so much similar to the JP bikes, every dudes was trying so hard to defend their euro pride.

  • contender

This is funny, though BS I think.

  • http://weroam.wordpress.com Darek

ok, yea, its similar. Really similar. But I could make the same damn video comparing almost any two super sports and they would look close. The bikes a re designed a certain way because that’s how they perform best. I’m not gonna put an anchor on my bike to differentiate it if all i’m going for is top performance.

  • jconli1

while it was wearing R6 skin on the test track early on, it won’t be $20k (at least not in the subsidized US)

    cute, though.

  • nick

    youre kidding right?

because BMW would go out and risk their reputation by going out and copying…of all things, an R6….. really? because the R6 was so unbeatable? and makes a perfect bike to copy for WSBK?

they look similar, i will give him THAT, so do a lot of bikes.

    • http://www.1800motorcycle.net Joe Moses

I agree, they don’t even look that similar when you start with the fact that all bikes have two-wheels, a gas tank, handlebars…ect. They are similar, as in they are both sportbikes, It stops there however.

  • thomashenny

Would you take the R6 from NYC to LA? It would break down around St. Louis. The only thing these two have in common is a chain.

  • Scott

    newflash… they all look alike.
you want different? don’t buy a sportbike.

BMW’s plan was to “rip off” rather then reinvent the wheel, or blaze a new trail. It’s the fastest way to racing success(WSBK).

It will be interesting to compare BMW results with Aprilia V4. Then you can compare the two different approaches.

  • SwaggeringPagan

Thomashenny: I’ve got an 07 R1, I HAVE ridden it across the country, from here in Portland all the way to Key West. Never gave me a problem, I changed the oil and tires. Period. On secondary roads whenever possible and a good portion of the time at speeds that were…umm…less than prudent.

But then the R6 must be the piker bike huh…..idiot.

  • http://www.speedymoto.com Christian

Wow that was an annoying video!

  • Luke

If you guys at hfl believe this even a little bit then i lose a ton of respect for you….u can make this comparison to alot of streetbikes, that doesnt make it a hoax….this is pathetic

    • http://hellforleathermagazine.com Wes

Dude, it’s a joke. And a pretty funny one at that. Have you never seen Loose Change?

  • Rocco

Ok, since you can compare any super sports bikes and they will look just as similar I would like to see someone make a similar video comparing the Ducati 999 and the latest model CBR1000RR.

Seriously though, I do agree that there are things that work and every company is going to utilize them, but it is funny that zee Germans made a bike that looks so strikingly like that which most of their customers are proud not to mount.

  • dain

umm 400CC makes a difference regardless of style…

  • Mitch

sound of joke flying over people’s heads

  • Mitch

Oh hey, looks like asterisks make text bold. Learn something new every day.

Well, anyway… HFL, you may have to upgrade the sarcasmotron plug-in of your blog.

  • johnny

haha..at least it doesn’t look like a BMW thank god!

  • Elux Troxl

I am sure that the kid who made this could also find amazing similarities between a Porsche 911 and a Toyota MR2.

  • http://artistruth.livejournal.com will

I have been calling Alex Jones for years describing the international Zionist BMW motorcycle conspiracy.

AT LAST MY VOICE HAS BEEN HEARD.

  • http://setthemfree.tumblr.com SASHa Pave

Oh Jeez, every liter bike coming from Japan is indistinguishable if you squint. Funny video!

  • Phil H

    Cool. Very interesting indeed.

  • Kevin T

OMG THEY’RE BOTH SILVER, BOTH HAVE FOOT PEGS, AND BOTH GAS TANKS. Besides that they look nothing alike. The bmw is lightyears ahead in styling.

    • Phil H

What makes you say that (not agreeing or disagreeing, just wondering what you think makes it light years ahead)…

  • LADucSP

not only did they use R6 bodywork and chassis dimensions for initial development, but they even unintentionally carved a superimposed “M1″ into the nose…a-la “Yamaha M1″

it’s going to go like stink, though

  • ct

he he he!!!!! this is a bloody joke….. guys look at the performance

  • Avboden

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

this video was made for me!!! On a motorcycle forum i’m on i’m seen as a BMW fanboy and I keep track of the S1000RR for most everyone. Anyways he made this and posted it up in the thread.

Notice at the very end where it says once the screen goes black

    “Regards AV!”

    BAHAHAH this rocks

  • http://www.bitgeist.com Shrike

someone had too much time on their hands…

  • Duke

You’ve gotta be kidding me! These bikes don’t look anything alike. All this video shows is that both are apparently sportbikes. Now I’ve just wasted 2 minutes of my life that I’ll never get back. Maybe the real message here is that BMW has actually built a SuperSport motorcycle.
