Ducati Desmosedici Documentary: episode one

Ducati_Desmosedici_Documentary.jpgDucati is releasing a multipart documentary on the design and development of the Desmosedici RR. This first episode is only a brief introduction, but features some great action footage. Unlike the Aprilia RSV4 videos, Ducati doesn’t drown out the engine noise with lame Euro Rock and man that V4 sounds good. In fact, we’re guessing Ducati’s timing — releasing a new documentary on an old bike — has something to do with that RSV4, which is being launched this week.

Are you on crack, Wes? That Eurotechno for the first 2:30 is.. oh wait. It gets worse?!? Yeah, it totally gets worse.

I thought this was going to be good. I fail to understand how the Italy that produced Fellini and Antonioni in the same era now produces bike videos as bad as Aprilia and Ducati do on a regular basis.

The production quality is about as good as a self-help tape for beginning tennis players.

“The production quality is about as good as a self-help tape for beginning tennis players.”

That’s some funny shit right there. LOL

I’m gonna have to side with Charlie on this. The “techno” is poor even by EU standards. Reminds me of some shit you’d hear in a south Jersey dance club circa ’94.

Correction, that’s “corporate presentation video music” as distinct from “your call is important to us hold music”.

  • Jules

For a brand that is supposedly all about passion, and a bike that is that expensive and exclusive, that is truly one of the blandest videos I have seen.

I kept expecting John Cleese to pop up, and start talking about health and safety in the workplace.

Ducati should have a look at what the likes of KTM, and even Kawasaki, have been producing lately!

  • thomashenny

wow, i didn’t know that there were that many video production couch critics out there.

music aside, this bike is as beautiful as Monica Vitti and Monica Bellucci but not Monica Lewinsky.

Their videos suck because Ducati spends its money on racing.

    That’s why they win.

    • charlie

Sean, that’s no excuse. They’d still win if Ducati spent an extra $500 or so for an editor/producer worth a damn. You don’t need Michael Bay-sized budgets to make good work.

  • johnny

    sickest street bike ever.

    - I agree with that staement but what if they did have Micheal Bay direct a video? That would be sweet to watch….oh and have the famous movie voice guy speaking in the background.

    • Fox

      Morgan Freeman? LOL!

  • Diego

Video aside, that bike is an eyegasm.

  • DaMan

Too bad that famouse movie voice dude died.

    Ducati rules!
