Leathers over boots?!
Mitch
Pat – Dainese makes a special boot with velcro on the upper that attaches to loop sections on the insides of their suit legs. Looks goofy, but if you think about it, there’s less chance of a boot snagging on something in a slide.
As for the pic, love it! Lean angle is so surreal, that even though the wheels are motion blurred, it’s hard to believe it’s not staged.
Motorcycle racing – because all other sports only need one ball.

Any chance you can rotate the picture to level to really see true lean angle? Why do these shots get tilted?
Rob
Because if it were level, nobody would believe it was real!
Rossi’s hanging off a fraction more and his bike’s a degree or two more upright. Lorenzo’s so damned scrawny it looks like he doesn’t need to move his weight around to the same degree – and Rossi uses his proper man-size physique to balance the bike closer to vertical and get a poofteenth more grip as a result.
But then the extra weight could inflict a compensating lateral force…..er…..my round isn’t it?
On the reverse angle of that final corner you could see Rossi with his back wheel stepping out and his front wheel in the air. Can’t go no faster than that.

Thanks Wes. This stuff speaks for itself without any alterations.

Absolute epic race. I think I have watched the ending about 10 times now.
