If you’re anything like us, you’ve looked on in envy at the huge variety of classic racing on offer at England’s Goodwood Revival and wished in vain that something similar took place here in America. Wish no more, because the Festival of Legends is coming to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca next fall. Unlike Goodwood, which focuses on the post-war period from 1948-1966, the Festival of Legends will concentrate on the golden age of American motorcycle racing — the 1970s.

The event in 2010 will be a major social event celebrating the halcyon
days of motor racing, as it used to be with all the spectacle and
glamour of the era and a magical step back in time. The atmosphere,
dress, food and music will celebrate life on racetracks in 1970s in a
unique weekend celebration.

Exact details are still being worked out, but expect a true festival
atmosphere with period dress, support vehicles and even aircraft. The
track already plays home to the Monterey Historics, a hugely successful
vintage car race, and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance takes place
nearby.

You can also look forward to seeing legendary riders like Giacomo
Agostini
and John Surtees racing each other on their original race
bikes.

We’ll bring you more details as they become available.

Wow our very own personal time machine and every year too. I for one will be buying tickets to this event!

I can’t speak for Mid-Ohio Vintage Days (never been, but i hear it’s great), but I did attend last year’s Barber Vintage Festival at Barber Motorsports (in Alabama) and got to see an absolute shit-ton of vintage racing, including everything from late 70s Nortons to 1920s-era Indians (not together of course).

I’d say we’re doing ok here in the u.s. of a.
