Suzuki GSX-R125 official shot leaks

Like the Honda VFR1200, it looks like a low-res version of an official press shot for the Suzuki GSX-R125 has leaked long before its official unveiling. Rivaling other four-stroke 125s like the CBR125 and YZF-R125, the Suzuki more successfully mimics the styling of its larger family members.  Sure, that large beam frame is likely pressed steel and not cast or extruded aluminum, but it looks the part; as do the multi-layered plastics and banana swingarm (curved on the right side). Like its competition, expect around 15bhp, 125kg (dry) and non-adjustable suspension . Damn, we wish we were 16 again.

Update: two more pictures follow the jump.

16 and living in Canada or Europe? Unless Suzuki will be a shrewd Japanese factory and will both distribute and market a sports 125 for ‘Merica.

      Never going to happen.

    hmmm yes very good.

Now where’s something in between the 125 and the 600??

Does nobody else think this looks like an ill proportioned joke?
Suzuki styling has been wide of the mark since 2005 gsxr 1000, but this is hideous!

It’s kind of funny, this bike has been stripped of its own identity in order to appear like its big brothers. Camouflage indeed.

These 125′s would look a lot cooler if they put something a little wider than a bicycle tire on the back. And I agree with Ceowulf, something in a 400 would be pretty sweet. You could wind the piss out of it around town without doing 130 when you’re done.

I’d totally rock a 450cc Thumper in that and cut some fun laps…

    HMM… It’s a 2nd generation SV650 with a GSX-R fairing. Looks like a photochop.

Looks nothing like an SV, just look at the frame and the running gear.

The top shot has been modified in photoshop, it was originally black and what, Bako colored it in.

I don’t mind the styling. Usually the smaller bore bike tend to be watered down versions of the big brothers even in styling. Making it mimic the big bore machines has it’s merits but I do agree, some of the forbidden fruit of the small bore street bike that never made it to US shores had their own identity. Frankly I would like to see a 250 version. 15 hp is pethetic even for 16 year olds. Heck, even the motorcross small bore 125 2 stroke went to 250 cc’s as a 4 stroke. This 125 would be as fun as rining a damn moped….. Gawd, please bring back the 2 stroke if you can make it clean, if not, forget the 125 and go with a 250, otherwise it isnt’ worth your time or effort. As for the tire size, only give it the size it requires to stay conected to the road in a hard turn at speed. Anything bigger is more weight for the enemic engine to try and pull around….
