Vyrus 987 C3 4V: 185bhp, 155kg, hub-center steering

Equipped with a tweaked version of the Ducati 1198‘s engine, the Vyrus 987 C3 4V makes a claimed 185bhp and is said to weight just 155kg (dry) to the donor bike’s 171kg. If you think that sounds fast, Vyrus plans a 211bhp supercharged version. More importantly, it uses a swingarm to mount the front wheel and a steering linkage that separates the steering, braking and suspension functions from each other.  The C3 also comes equipped with a traction control system, although its unclear whether or not this is the same 8-mode DTC that’s employed on the Ducati.     This is amazing though I’m sure it will be a wee bit pricier than my house.

    Even though it has the elephant under the hood I might prefer the Tesi 3D. The 1100 power plant is such a great engine and the trellis frame and overall look is so much better. In fairness, this may look better in person, but a little too transformers for me.

    so..where exactly is the frame?..if any is it like a britton?

      It’s all bolted to the motor. It looks like there are a few machined plates on each side, but there isn’t much in the way of a real frame.

    Is the front so ugly they won’t even photograph it? For such a technically interesting bike, it sure does lack for style. I’ll ask Uncle Scrooge for a Streetfighter instead.

      Different strokes I guess, Eddie; I think it’s one of the coolest, most “stylish” bikes I’ve ever seen. You can have the Streetfighter, for me this thing kicks its ass in every way.

    It may need a lower fairing, not too sure about the exposed suspension….I wonder how that front end feels?

    I don’t know… If I’m going to buy a bike that looks like that I might as well have the Bimota name attached to it. Looks like a carbon copy of the Tesi 2d.

      Actually, the Tesi 2D WAS built by Vyrus, so it’s the other way round.

    Unfortunately, for all of the “progressiveness” of motorcyclists, the basic design suspension design has not really changed much- front forks and a rear swingarm (even leading link is not that much of a departure.) However, hub centric front suspensions really solve the problem of steering and braking affecting one another. It would be nice if the big four started utilizing these so that they could eventually trickle down to a bike that I could afford (used that is.) Just my $.02 for what it’s worth.
