Ducati Monsters go logo crazy

Along with the Ducati Monster 796 comes a new variation on the Monster Art theme. Where last year’s art project offered the ability to quickly and cheaply change the color of your Monster with clip-on tanks, tail-pieces, fenders and bikini fairings, this year’s Logomania adds classic color schemes and logos to the mix. The project makes a huge amount of sense; Monster customers love to customize their bikes and despite its awful new puffy heart logo, Ducati has a huge catalog of past logos, color schemes and racing heritage to draw upon. Combine the two and you have a simple, smart way to both give the Monster range more appeal and squeeze some cash out of existing owners.

There’s 10 new color schemes on offer:

  • “Giallo Ducati” Ducati Yellow
  • “Lilla Glamour” Lilac
  • “Arancione Scrambler” Ducati Scrambler Orange
  • “Ducati Corse” Inspired by the new Ducati Corse logo
  • “Imola 72″ In honor of the Imola 200 winning 750SS
  • “Darmah” Modeled after the legendary black and gold striping of the late seventies.
  • “Isle of Mann 79″ A tribute to Ducati’s 1978 Senior TT Win
  • “Pantah” Ducati’s iconic logo from the eighties
  • “Mach 1″ A vibrant red in the spirit of the 1960′s
  • “Sport 100″ A historic blue from Ducati’s of the past

I love Ducati bikes, they are sexy as hell. It’s a shame I can never ride one as none of them work with my 5’6″ height.

Having just poo-pooed the Monster 696 in the preceeding Ducati Monster 796 post, I’ll swallow my personal opinion in this case. Unless you’ve got a un-proportionally short inseam compared to your torso, the Monster 696 should fit you well. I’m your height and the 696 felt low compared to most bikes. I wear a size 30 inseam in pants.

As for the various Ducati graphic treatments, I wholeheartedly approve. Ducati, I dare you to make it so.

A red, green and white tri-color… oh no, there goes the next impulse buy!

  • bobsmop

    DucaMon, gotta catch ‘em all

With the red frame some of the alternative colors don’t look very good. But the Isle of Mann tricolore is spectacular. Wow.

Me likey. Black and gold is always so badass on these bikes, and that powder-blue job is about to make it’s way onto my money-pit 900SS.

  • Sid

Nice! I dig the black and gold.

I really like it. They could have gone super cheesy/commercial with this, instead they took a more ‘heritage’ stance. Cool.

All that video does is reinforce the fact that new Ducati doesn’t even come close to old Ducati, from a jaw dropping, art/design standpoint.

      Amen to that brother.

New monsters look turd compared to the old ones IMO.

BINGO!! The purty paint jobs do not make up for the fact that the “new” Monster was designed by accountants not designers.

  • matt

will wait for the pink hello kitty scheme

  • Woody

I’ll take one of these with a regular bucket headlight and less-futuristic clocks, please.

Gah. And here I had to source some vintage Ducati Meccanica logos and pay a guy to repaint my 99′s tank. THANKS DUCATI MARKETING!
Also, the new-gen models look like crap. That frame is horrid and my gas tank does not need vents, thankyouverymuch.

  • froryde

Me likey! Perhaps these paint schemes would be even more fitting on an old Monster?

And how come they don’t do design from the TT1/TT2 race bikes? The yellow/red (TT2) and blue/red (TT1) combos rock!

796 owners are better off with the Craigslist mod so they can then use the cash to buy an older, dry clutch Monster — one without that ugly subframe.

  • Nick

I have to disagree, I think the new Monster is the mutts. Second to the Hypermotard as the best looking Ducati. Then again, I liked the 999.

  • Ahks

the new ugly subframes shave like 5lbs off the dry weight and make removal of that rear beer tray even easier. I’m in the market for a Duc and I’m looking at a 796. Even tho I could afford a gently used 1000 easily.
