2010 MotoCzysz E1pc immortalized in comic

MotoCzysz-Comic.jpgPyar Anderson makes fun comics about environmental stuff, highlighting the humor in a way of thinking that normally takes itself too seriously. When he saw the 2010 MotoCzysz E1pc he thought, “That thing looks like a robot!” Then he drew this strip.

“I really love the E1pc because it destroys the belief that in order to
live in harmony with the environment, humans are going to have to give
up certain luxuries,” Pyar told us. “It proves, that where speed and
performance are concerned, we need not compromise, and that gives me
hope for other sectors of the lifestyle/environmentalism conflict.

“I really like the design for the robot, so I’m working on fleshing it
out into a larger, more detailed illustration.”

    Is it my imagination or is that Czysz in the blue shirt?

    To put that in perspective for you, that legendary speed that they failed to make by 6% was set in 1957.

    And can somebody explain why they are bragging about the batteries being hot swappable? I can’t see how that is important on a motorcycle.

      Ted, we know when the 100mph barrier was broken as well as who the rider was that broke it. And how long it took an ICE-powered bike to break it, too.

      As for using a hot-swap battery, it’s what makes the machine safe to work on because the power source has been removed. Meaning that you won’t accidently explode yourself by touching the wrong things at the same time. Think of it like removing the problem of stupidly lighting a match near racing fuel.

      I don’t understand your negativity here. Do you not like prototype racing, or is it something else?

        To be fair, the comic implies the bike came within 6mph of the current record. And not everyone is a fan of electric bikes either; I find the current state kind of boring myself. I think it can turn into something special one day, but materials is where the real final frontier is – with battery tech facing very real limitations, electrical vehicles will retain a very heavy liability in weight, cost, complexity, and output.

      The 96mph lap would have put them in second place in 1957. Last year’s winning lap would have won in 1938. 19 years’ development in one season sounds pretty damn impressive to me.

      Batteries are the limiting factor here, they’re going to be for some time, but they’ll also become less so every year. Hence all the aerodynamic and efficiency efforts Czysz made, stuff that could have benefits to ICE bikes too.
