Oh say can you see American Honda's Indy Moto2 racer?

One score and two days from now, Roger Lee Hayden will set forth on the great battlefield of Indianapolis, engaged in the great test of whether this nation, or any nation so conceived, can win a Moto2 race. We here highly resolve that Roger shall not race in vain and that fans of the people, by the people and for the people shall not fail to watch. This Moriwaki MD600 may be built in Japan and painted by Italy, but can any bike that flies the stars and stripes this well be anything but American?

I feel like if he takes 1st on this bike I should write him a check for at least beer money.

  • hedrives

Great to see the Ride For Kids logo on there, too. Good luck, Roger Lee.

Let’s hope for an ’11 CBR600RR in a similar scheme. Maybe then cagers might notice us.

In the race commentary they mentioned that Lorenzo’s victory gave Spain its longest winning streak in the premier class. 7 in a row I believe.

Then it was revealed how far they have to go to catch the record holder. Who’s that you say? Italy? No, the USA, 36 wins on the trot. Unbelievable. A reminder that motorcycle racing is just another thing that the USA used to be awesome at.

How does dominance like that suddenly fall on its arse? It’s sad and I’m not even an American, as you can tell from the spelling of “arse”.

    • C mad

Elbows will take us back to the promise land next year. I BELIEVE!

  • Duke

I’d bet he won’t finish top ten. bahahahaha.

    • alex

“I’d bet he won’t finish top ten. bahahahaha.”

I bet your too fat and stupid to get a job washing the bike much less ride it – yea for haters

  • emd

Sorry but it was painted in southern california..Best check your sources.. last time I checked that was still considered the United States.

Drudi did the paint scheme though and they’re Italian. Hence “Painted BY Italy.” :)

  • emd

no the word your looking for is designed

      Who cares?

The switch controls on the bike are very odd. Very odd in that they look like Honda OEM controls. Look at the right one. It has the engine start switch. That makes some sense to use that as the right OEM CBR switch pod is a real compact, light, and cheap way to get their engine cut off switch but then look at the left switch controls. ??? You can see the high beam on and dip flash switch. I know they’re not using the super fancy mode switches you see on the Moto GP bikes but wow they’re dipping into the OEM parts bin for more than engine cases.

As someone who generally blanches at over patriotic styling, that thing looks awesome!

  • K2theM

    Go us.

But I’ll be rooting for BottPower next year.

  • CafeRacer1200

Good luck to you Roger! I can’t wait for the GP. I live 10 miles from the track and have no intention of sleeping more than three hours a night from Friday am to Sunday pm. Last year the bikes on Meridian kept the party going until 6am.

With patriotic gear, you either go classy understated (see: US Men’s soccer kits for the 2010 WC), or go balls-to-the-wall, Hulk Hogan and Apple Pie. This bike is clearly the latter, but it looks great!

There’s also something about a blued exhaust that turns me on…

If Young Hayden makes it to GP, he’s going to have to give up his 34. That’s schwantz’s number.

    • pdub

It’s Schwantz’s fledgling Moto2 team bike. It’s his bike and team and he’s letting Hayden run his number.

  • Noone1569

Dude, I can’t wait for this race!

Anyway, since there’s no viable American bike producers, might as well paint something like this in Americana . . I guess?

It does look pretty neat though . . not half as cool as the bar code scheme =)

  • Jordan J.

Really like the paint job, its like a patriotic spin off of the classic Honda red/white/blue scheme that the US rarely ever saw on their bikes.

  • carlos

hey, on the 3/4 rear shot of the bike, doesn’t the crank cover and the radiator look a little flat and photoshop-ed compared to the rest of the bike? Or is it just me? Because I’ve been staring at this beauty for hours and I just noticed that….

  • dave

pretty cool, lets hope he can get up there, and I really hope that schwantz gets to go ahead with the full programme next season

  • Darek

Umm, isn’t Kenny Noyes an American? Or is the post incorrect, and HFL actually means MotoGP, not Moto2?

    • Grant Ray

Yep, Noyes is definitely American, but this is more about the uber-patriotic yet really good-looking bike American Honda is supplying for the race.

    Hey Everyone:

Thanks for all the comments! We were honored to have the opportunity to paint such a beautiful bike. There seems to be a bit confusion about the location of where the bike was actually painted. The bike was not painted in Italy it was in face painted at our HQ in Southern California 125 E. Santa Clara #14 Arcadia CA 91006
