First the Moto Guzzi V7 Clubman was on, then it was off. Now, it’s on again, and how. Now known as the Moto Guzzi V7 Racer, it’s a limited production model and it’s coming to the US next year. Bellissimo.

A strikingly faithful adaptation of last year’s concept bike, the Racer appears to only change its name and lose its heat-wrapped exhaust pipes in translation to reality. With its leather strapped chrome tank and contrasting red frame and hubs this is obviously a bike that’s about looks, but that’s not to say it doesn’t bring with it some serious performance upgrades over the regular Moto Guzzi V7 Classic.

40mm Marzocchi forks and twin Bitubo remote-reservoir shocks hold 18” wheels and a 320mm front brake disc gripped by a 4-piston Brembo caliper. Adjustable rearsets are billet and there’s no provision for a passenger, although a two-person seat and rear footpegs will be available as options. An Arrow exhaust system will also be available.

Neat visual details abound, including the drilled, brushed aluminum side panels, red plug leads, a tiny plexiglass lip screen on top of the bikini fairing, Guzzi badges and eagle in the same red as the frame and hubs, a numbered plaque on the top yoke, billet fuel tank filler and polished cylinder heads. Just wow.

The 744cc 90° v-twin is not said to differ from that of the Moto Guzzi V7 and Moto Guzzi V7 Cafe, which means a slightly disappointing 49bhp and 40lb/ft of torque, but all the character you could ever need.
