Showcase: Icon Overlord jacket

Dailies -

By

Ernie Vigil, Jason Britton, Eric Hoenshell and Nick Brocha all have something in common and it isn’t just a significant line item for rear tires. The Icon Overlord jacket is constructed from 1.2-1.4mm cowhide, equipped with CE-approved Field Armor and uses mechanically articulated shoulders and elbows for complete freedom of movement. Perforations will keep you cool when it’s warm and a wind-blocking detachable vest will keep you warm when it’s not. It also looks good while you drift your Ninja up a spiral parking ramp.

I thought everyone came to HfL to get away from this crowd. Gotta pay the bills I suppose.

I don’t think HFL is the place to get away from any crowd, just certain ways of thinking.

There are plenty of folks who made very different riding decisions than I who I respect, in spite of the countless bad examples coming out of every cross section of riders.

Something that amuses me: seeing this in certain magazines is what they would refer to as a “gear guide” or somesuch. Seeing it on HFL, even before I get to the closing sponsorship line, immediately makes me think, “This must be an ad.” I’m okay with that. As long as there are stickers coming.

I agree with that. At least they’re promoting safety gear.

Whatever. That’s a nice looking jacket. Needs more perforation, IMO, but the design cohesive and clean-looking.

Please try not to judge bro. I should probably be visiting a more “urban” motorcycle site but HFL is sick. Your style does not matter as long as you love to ride and don’t act like a D?@#. I don’t want to look like a Power Ranger but this stuff gets expensive.

+1, we make HFL for everyone that loves motorcycles.

This foot is delicious, but it is filling.

I’d say Icon is getting their money’s worth with HFL. Urban-centric gear with urban readers.

      Grant’s street name is “Bubbles.”

        And yours is “Ginola” ;)

Say what you will. But Icon definitely tries to promote proper safety equipment. They refuse to make an open face helmet because they believe it doesn’t protect you enough. They give away tons of merchanise. These stunt teams really stress the importance of wearing the right gear. Even when they’re doing a simple wheelie at 10mph. And they even sponsored the HFL Scar Off.

I agree 100%. Icon gets a lot of people in gear that wouldn’t otherwise wear it. I’m a gringo living in Central America, their line is the only one that’s half decent that can be had down here at even remotely reasonable prices (import duties make stuff like this cost 100% more over what it costs in the States). After growing tired of paying $700-$800 for a helmet every year, I switched to a plain black Icon a couple helmets ago, it’s a little heavy but fits great and is well ventilated with minimal buffeting at speed. I’ve gone down with their gloves (and helmets) on, not a scratch. Bottom line, the stuff works, is attainable, and if you stick to basic black, is tasteful. Let the negative Nancy’s be shitty, I’ll be safe.

I don’t care if it’s an ad. That was cool! And yes, I have a Chrome Claymore helmet and a pair of cool ICON gloves I bought at a Harley shop (!).

Icon Motorhead Boots White. Loved those boots, wore them everywhere. I would have kept using them but they were so done in my girlfriend threw them out without asking. :(

      Dump her.

He he. It’s ok, when her Mulberry handbag looks a bit worn in she’ll find it in with the bin bags!

I much prefer this type of ad placement vs pop-ups or ads that affect the rendering of the web page.

I like ICON products. I appreciate the zero or small collars and the extended tails. I would prefer the ICON logo be smaller and placed over the left chest but hey, that’s why I would buy the stealth version.

Also liked the music selection in the video!

Don’t like Icon clothing. Too much big logos, and graphics that don’t do it for me. That said, this video is really nice, and love the music too.
