The neatest thing about the BMW Concept C November 3, 2010 By Wes Siler Tweet The neatest thing about the BMW Concept C isn’t its mecha front fairing or the blue tires, it’s that you can see the BMW Concept 6 through the rearview cameras. Think we’ll ever see a naked roadster using the K1600GT‘s 160bhp, 129lb/ft inline-six? Pete How many controls and functions does a scooter really need? Look at all the buttons on that dash! I’ll give you the heated grips, that’s a nice addition, but what is all the rest of the stuff? (other than the hazards, turn signals, and brights of course) The Lawyer Random awesomeness. I think it’s cool, except that I don’t see the need for an MP3 player on scooter. There’s plenty of stripped down scooters out there. No need to complain about the Beemer being too teched out. Pete I just worry about the general noob-ness of people who buy scooters. Scoots serve as stepping stones to bikes. I did it myself (albeit with a cheap beat up old Vespa). I can just see some dentist or Manhattan yupster buying an amazing new scooter to ride to work on and promptly smashing it into the back of a dump truck while messing around with the mp3 player or nav system. PS- I’m not sure why I came down so hard on dentists right there. It just felt right. Sorry tooth care professionals. You provide a valuable service! nick2ny You know what? I don’t want rearview cameras. Mirrors do me just fine. If I get an eyelash in my eye, or want to check for poppyseeds in my teeth before I head into work, I want a mirror. If I’m changing lanes, I want to roll my head around a little to change the field of view in the mirror, and I change it too when I’m reversing and need to see if a pannier is going to rub against a car’s bumper. Another thumbs up for the heated grips. http://hellforleathermagazine.com Wes Siler Luddite. nick2ny I’m not crazy about valves and cams either (just kidding)! The OBD-I Miata I just bought has manual steering, manual windows, rust, manual mirrors, and a torsen diff. I *can* get behind mechanical diff technology. I know you were talking about the bike behind the scooter rather than the method of seeing it, but there would be five Concept 6′s trailing me and my cracked kaleidoscope of a left mirror. http://hellforleathermagazine.com Wes Siler How come you always have cooler vehicles than me? nick2ny Because you lend em out ;) The Lawyer You can just use the mirror on your cosmetics container to check your face. RandyS Can those little televisions get another channel? It would be great to be able to watch NBA games on ESPN while I ride. 8-) DirectorLJ Oh, come on, totally fun! I can make believe I’m in my very own Bond movie where James goes undercover as an NYC scooter messenger! Note the missiles that fire from out of the Hugo Boss-protecting fairing! Why make such a thing? Because we can can can! http://www.pedalgents.com holdingfast What I dont understand is how you guys seem to be slightly euphoric about the BMW Concept but totally against the Honda Mid Concept thing – while to my untrained eyes the two designs seems to stem from the same exact idea? Or is it just the way that Honda overdid it a bit with their press release? I, while I’d never ride anything like it, actually think the Honda looks better than the BMW. Good point on the rearview mirrors nick2ny! http://hellforleathermagazine.com Wes Siler Yeah, if you read the Honda articles we’re just calling them out for hyperbole, not suggesting it’s a bad product. Just not the “future of motorcycle awesomeness” or whatever it is they’re claiming. http://www.pedalgents.com holdingfast Indeed. I stand corrected, or rather better informed. MikeD Back to the original question: I don’t have a fricking clue but i sure as hell would like to see one K1600R,RS or a K1600S at least. Just for the sheer hell of it being so over the top outrageous. Maybe Honda would grow a pair and finally turn into production that EVO6 Concept and Suzuki the Stratosphere.
