Last month, Ten Kate Honda SBK rider Jonathan Rea had a metal pin inserted in his left wrist to repair injuries suffered in his crash at Imola in September. “There was more damage than they first thought,” describes Rea. “The operation took about two hours instead of one. Basically, the ligament between the two bones was 100% ruptured and the two wires are designed to pull them together while the ligament meshes again.” Last week he had that pin removed. Luckily, there’s video.

I got to watch the same thing in person last month when the doctor pulled a similar pin out of my hand. It was cool. What was a lot cooler was finally being able to wash that hand again a few days later.

Washing a hand/arm/limb after it’s been in a cast for ages is possibly the greatest feeling ever.
