This is what it looks like when you crash an R1 at 157mph

These photos show a 2004 Yamaha YZF-R1 that, according to a Pinal County, Arizona Sheriff’s Deputy, “virtually disintegrated” when its 19-year-old rider lost control at 157mph during a pursuit. Failing to handle “a gradual curve” the bike and rider travelled 348 feet off-road before impacting the concrete base of a traffic signal pole. At that point, Noe Marcos Colazo of Tempe, Arizona separated from the R1, flying a further 104 feet. Noe was transported to hospital in critical condition and will face Aggravated DUI, Reckless Driving and Criminal Speed charges. The Yamaha is not expected to make a full recovery.

    why would police to this day still pursue anyone in any vehicle when they know it will most certainly end up hurting someone (most cases innocent people just happen to be in path of pursuit)?
    police shuld block, help, have smarts, too much to ask?

      Obviously this drunk kid was a hazard PRIOR to the cops pursuit. You let him go, he may just run into innocent bystanders on his own. The kid probably was too far from the pursuing officers since 157 mph is damn fast.

      A cops’ pursuit is the way to keep tabs on the idiot and have immediate emergency personnel the time he eats shit. Big, smelly, ugly poo.

      Also, I believe most if not all police departments cannot use tire-deflation devices (spikes) on motorcycles. Although, a road block for a 157 mph screaming R1 would make an entertaining youtube video.

    The lesson to learn from this is that it’s always best practice to avoid crashing at all costs.

    Motorcycles are only dangerous if you crash them.

    Sadly, I live around the area that this guy crashed and the whole road is usually swarming with sheriff officers. How this guy is still alive is a mystery to me, but I hope he doesn’t take anyone else down on his way to becoming a Darwin candidate.

    It has nothing to do with motor skills.
