Dakar-Gas

Aprilia rider Francisco Lopez finished fourth overall in the 2011 Dakar, but he almost didn’t finish at all. Not only did he just about run out of fuel on a connection between special stages, but, when he stopped to help himself to the gas from a parked bike in a village, Argentinean police quickly intervened. How sneaky does he look in this video?

    HA! That’s hilarious!

  • Turf

I’ve stolen gas before and can’t recall turning into a cartoon villian.

The hell? It’s more than likely the owner of the bike was nearby, he could have just asked. And then to do it while three cops are staring right at him? He might have had a concussion on one of the earlier stages.

I am sure this guy is law-abiding, up-standing citizen 99% of the time, because that was the least sneaky thing I’ve ever seen.

I guess I meant most sneaky thing I’ve ever seen. Please exscuse the ESL moment.

Hey gringo, the gas station’s over there. Cash only btw.

I was envisioning the cop’s initial words when he walked up.

    Haha.

What’s a bit of fuel between locals and Dakar competitors?

Not sneaky? Are you serious? He looked like a character out of a Bugs Bunny cartoon.
As a visitor from Chile Senor Lopez may not have been welcome to that gas even if he had asked the Argentean owner and offered to pay for it.

That was as smooth as 40 grit sandpaper.

“ssssshhhh be vewy, vewy quiet…I’m hunting unleaded.”
