Last week we brought you the story of of Steve McQueen’s 1971 Husqvarna 400 Cross that’s going to be auctioned by Bonhams at the Quail Lodge in in May. Now, here’s high-res studio photos of that bike. Why is this particular Husky so significant? Well, it’s the bike Steve famously rode shirtless on the cover of Sports Illustrated. So, if you’ve got a heavy McQueen man crush, this is the just the thing to park under that life-size poster.

Thanks Chuck.

ATGATT, COME ON. WE SHOULDN’T BE GLAMORIZING RECKLESS BEHAVIOR LIKE THIS. I DONT CARE IF YOU HURT YOURSELF BUT I DONT WANT MY INSURANCE GOING UP BECAUSE SOME SQUID WANTS TO EMULATE THIS.

I think I hate every motorcyclist who has ever written anything online.

Ha, don’t forget the irresponsible wheelie. Everyone knows that only squids pull wheelies!

Just imagine that if there hadn’t been a McQueen, there would possibly be fewer people interested in motorcycles, and in muscle cars for that matter, and insurance for all of these would be much lower.

      Damn you McQueen!

Passed through Sturgis last year on a trip on my 675. I would rather feed my man-crush with Steve McQueen than have to endure another vision of shirtless pot-bellied horn-helmet wearing Harley riders.

Never mind McQueen or the bike; we all know they’re both cool.

But when the hell was the last time Sports Illustrated featured anything motorcycle-related on their cover?

      I’m guessing August, 1971.
