Remember the photos of Keira Knightley, a beige catsuit and a Ducati 750SS that we showed you last September? Of course you do. The slinky brunette was filming a new ad for Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle perfume that will appear on television on the 21st. Here’s video of Keira talking about that ad and clips from it.

Clips from the ad can be seen in this E! video, but we warn you, the bits that don’t include Keira are extremely annoying.

All this is intended to reference or at least play off Marianne Faithfull’s “The Girl on a Motorcycle” but sadly this ad appears to further gender role stereotypes rather than subvert them. That film’s trailer is below.

Shots from the commercial’s Paris filming, plus screencaps from the video are included in the gallery below.

    I’ll take it…both

“The Girl On A Motorcycle” (1968) is a horribly boring movie. It doesn’t even have many good motorcycle scenes: it’s more in line with “Fear Of Flying” than with “The World’s Fastest Indian”. However, Marianne Faithfull is kind of cute, in a furry/ leather sort of way.

As for Keira Knightley, she’s not even standing next to the best Ducati. I like the throwback 1970s-era cream colour.

Why are motorcycles used this way in advertisements? In many ads, motorcycles are used as accents meant to represent: cool, freedom, individuality, flying, energy, et cetera.

To me, however, motorcycles are loud, dirty, cold, lonely, wet, muddy, uncomfortable, oily and impractical.

I quite enjoyed it personally, then again I also developed an unhealthy infatuation with Marianne Faithful after seeing that film so that probably explains it.

“..To me, however, motorcycles are loud, dirty, cold, lonely, wet, muddy, uncomfortable, oily and impractical…”

Hmm… what do the internets say? Oh! “You’re doing it wrong.”

He rides a KLR650; he sees wet, muddy, and impractical as benefits.

    What motorcycle?!

There’s a thin line between her face and Michael Jackson’s last incarnation that I can’t just get past in my head. Eeeeew.

Usually, I go for the girl, but I’ll stick to the sickly beige bike in this case.

      I hate you.

S’okay. Clearly Keira’s far too dark-skinned to be the King of Pop.

Damn, I should have watched the video before reading your comment… all I saw was MJ the whole damn time

“we warn you, the bits that don’t include Keira are extremely annoying.”
lol I think the same could be said for the most recent Pirates of the carribean movie

Call me a cliche American but Keira Knightly needs some implants.

Her face is immaculate but I cant handle a charter member of the itty bitty titty committee

Nope, give ‘em to me like the good lord made ‘em. Natural is best.
