Whatever it is, it’s better in the wind

Last summer, photographer Scott Toepfer released a book chronicling two-wheeled road trips he and his friends were taking in the South West. Beautifully shot, it made a compelling case for motorcycling among a generation of young artists and other creatives. Now, Scott’s working on a movie. Here’s the trailer.

Describing the project, Scott writes, “Because we read “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost and were taught that art is a path chosen by those who will themselves into the unknown. Today we face a world that is unkind to change, filled with the reluctance of apathy. Pioneers are just faceless figurines in museums rather than part of tomorrow’s manifesto. There is something to be cherished in our wide open spaces, if only the chance to breathe an unknown air, in search of a new way forward. A group of artists, riders and blue-collared intellectuals. Drew, Samson, Greg, Brandon, Curtis, Bjorn, Scott. We are young but not naive, we are tired but not jaded. Setting out across the West on vehicles without windows to restrict the scenery. With sincerity on the mind, we will be alone to reflect on past and future paths, only to find that the solidarity of the group will take us another day forward.

The film is being shot on both Super8 and modern HD and features original music by Chuck Ragan.

Holy shit, a motorcycle video with good music in the background. Somebody wake me up, this can’t be real.

Damn, that looks fun! Talk about minimalist touring. Though I guess having to bring video equipment makes you pack light.

My favourite HFL this week, and look at the lovely complimentary comments. “Cool” “Yeah” “Great” “Check this clip out”

So much better than the girning and sooking on the helmet story, or the Patrick Fitz Ray bike story.
