2012 Ducati XTreme: first photo?

Dailies -

Are these the headlights of the revolutionary, all-new 2012 Ducati Superbike? Motociclismo.it claims so, also suggesting that this will — put down your coffee — be called the Ducati XTreme. No word on whether or not the bike — rumored to be up 20bhp from the 1198’s 170bhp and down to 350lbs or so thanks to an ultra short-stroke v-twin and monocoque “frameless” design — will come with a free pair of Oakly M Frames, but with a name like that, it’d be a safe bet.

Free HFL stickers to anyone sending us scans of the magazine.

Update: MCN has more info on the name.

How about a Swatch watch and some Zink as well?

  • http://www.anotherdamndj.com evilbahumut

    Zink? LOL!

Looks an awful like the ‘sneak peak’ we saw last year. I vote for yes.

  • Emil

Aside from that dreadful name, it resembles the face of The Predator.

I sure, however, that it does look a lot better when we see the full pictures.

XTreme! Well, hell, why not just go ahead and call it the Dildozer?

    • george_fla

I have it on good word that “Dildozer” was the original name for the “Diavel” but upon poleing:) potential customers (mostly proctologist) it was shot down.

lolz. Monster Energy x Rockstar Energy x Flatbillers = SO EXTREME I CAN’T FEEL MY FACE

  • http://theprojectbeta.com/ Anders

Its probably real. The headlight is similar in concept to the Multistrada with a kind of a beak dividing the top portion of the headlight in half.

  • http://www.bottpower.com Hugo

Well the bike Bayliss (and the other guys) were riding had such ram-air intakes so I would say it is the real thing. The headlights look, design-wise, like an evolution of the 1198 (mixed with a little Desmosedici)…it seems Ducati is “leaking” deliberately to prepare the potential buyers and that they have to wait, no matter what the competition will present.
I have to say that this “impression” looks more realistic then the one from Luca Bar:

    • zipp4

Yikes. What an awful mashup of sweeping curves and sharp angles. And lets pray they don’t switch over to tri-spoke rims.

  • RT Moto

    Xtreme?! What the crap?!

    • Kevin

Eff that name, seriously. Eff it in the A.

  • JP

Wait. Can we buy HFL Stickers?

    • http://hellforleathermagazine.com Wes Siler

      Be patient.

      • noone1569

        NO. I’m tired of waiting!!!

        • Thom

          +1 ! :o)

    • jason

I was gona ask the same thing.

  • matt

“xtreme”? that’s rad to the max. It’d better come with a baseball hat – with the flattest of flat ultra mega flat brims. I mean flat. Not curved.

  • rndholesqpeg

    Hopefully this is the case:

One source told MCN: “The XTreme name was something that was used within Ducati. It’s not the name of the bike which is almost definitely going to be 1199.”

    • Thom

Knowing Ducati ( and OEM’s in general ) that’d be my bet as well . Its only a ” Working ” name .

  • Coreyvwc

Keep that name, throw on some ghost flames and factory spike bolts and they may just give the big four a run for their money…

  • http://www.faster-faster.com fasterfaster

There is absolutely no chance the bike will be called the XTreme, but that IS so terrible it’s embarassing that they even used it as a code name.

  • http://www.muthalovin.com the_doctor

I plan on waiting for the XTreme Rossi Replica.

  • je

Thats going to look pure evil in someones rear view mirror.. well for a short time that is.

Do want, would ride hard, wallet will not allow..

  • Earl

    HFL stickers please

  • Alex

The name evokes the shitty ass chevy s-10 Xtreme that was so popular with the high school bro crowd.

    • JonB

      spot on.

  • Brook

Straight out of the 90s. Deodorants aren’t even using “xtreme” anymore, and neither should Ducati.

  • Turf

I’m going to need one of these

  • alexio

being italian, it’s funny to me how something that sounds ok in one language sounds just horrible in another.

on the design side, not bad I’d say… lets wait to see the rest of it.

  • alexio

i just realized the nose forms an “X” shape with the headlights and the air intakes… maybe that’s what the Xtreme name came from?

anyway, my bet on the name is still “Superquadrata”

    • Turf

Superquadrata will be the engine name, bike will most likely be the 1199

    • http://hellforleathermagazine.com Wes Siler

It’ll probably just be “1199.” Ducati isn’t huge on actual names. 851>888>916>996>998>999>1098>1198>XTreme?! I don’t see that happening. If it does, I’ll be the first in Bologna with a pitchfork though.

  • http://www.kenta.ro Kentaro rides a NRS and a GSA

If they make it a functional and fun Streetfighter, I might have to buy it.

  • dux

Will it have those irritating daytime running LED’s as well? Every BRO in their Audizzle has them already.
