Azhar Hussain, creator of the TTXGP, has received one of the United Kingdom’s most prestigious awards. On Saturday, the Queen included him on her Honor’s List, making Azhar a Member of the Order of the British Empire “for services to motorsport.”

Originally held as a single race at the Isle of Man in 2009, TTXGP has since expanded to include races in seven countries with teams from 30. It might still be small, but this award acknowledges the series’ role in driving electric motorsports technology forward. When we’re all riding electric bikes in 50 years’ time, TTXGP will likely be credited as their genesis in history books.

Azhar stated, “I am honoured at the recognition but in truth the award belongs to the teams, suppliers, tracks, governments, and many others who stand with TTXGP and believe we can all make a difference. Competition not only provides great challenge and entertainment but also improves the breed; we hope that will come to be seen as a milestone in bringing new transportation technology to the world beyond motorsports.”

Congratulations man.

Whether or not you like the monarchy, regardless of whether one thinks that ancient titles or accolades from largely ceremonial figureheads are important, it is high level distinctions such as these that place attention to causes.

As a small scale contributor to the electrification of motorsport, and a member of the Commonwealth, I think this is much deserved. To say it takes balls to go to the heart of motorcycle racing and try to introduce change is a colossal understatement.

Good on you, Azhar. And thanks.

Maybe before Mr H starts patting himself on the back , he and the Queen needs to have a good look at all the E/V cars worldwide currently self igniting , asking himself ” How long will it be ? ” till an unsuspecting E/V M/C racer winds up with Third Degree Burns over his/her entire body .

Anyway if anyone from the Royals had put a good word in ( without researching the details ) it would have been Prince Chucky not the Junior Royals . He’s the ” Green Weenie ” of the family

E/V cars self igniting? I certainly think that the instances of that happening are much lower compared to say, Ferrari F458 Italias.

Besides, burned riders are nothing new.

Wait, you mean motorcycles are dangerous?!! That’s it, I’m never riding one again and I’m definitely NOT watching any more racing if you’re right about there being the possibility of someone getting a boo boo. If it’s not safe, it’s not fun.

It truly is when Alan Sugar is now a lord and James ‘one idea’ Dyson a Sir.

    Like the Indy 500?

Generally, what does subject new Member-of-the-Order-of-the-British-Empire do, when he’s not creator-ing?
    Royal motorcycle series-event promoter award?
