That England is a nation of motorcyclists has always somewhat perplexed me. The roads are good, but look at what they have to put up with just to go watch a GP. Rain, you’re probably aware of, but did you expect food trucks full of soggy burgers and mostly-batter fish and chips? Here, Jamie Robinson and Alpinestars explore the sodden, muddy field that is Silverstone.

Reason #927 why there should be a major motor sports complex in Southern California. Rain and Cold: we don’t have any.

Yeah you’re right, rain always makes for dull racing…

Rain makes for low attendance. Except in England, apparently. And even then attendance would be better if it were sunny out.

What??!! Rain makes for great racing? I’d rather it didn’t rain when I go to watch racing, as I don’t like getting wet, but I always think it improves the racing. It’s a great leveller and allows the best riders to win irrespective of the machine that they are on.

This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,This other Eden, demi-paradise, This natural race track, This fortress built by Nature for herself Against infection and the hand of war, This happy breed of motorcyclists, this little world, This precious stone set in the silver sea, Which serves it in the office of a wall Or as a moat defensive to a house, Against the envy of less happier lands,–
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

I couldn’t even read all that – damn gobbledegook made my head hurt.

What were you trying to say – Silverstone is a great track, or motorcycles are great? See – it’s not that hard.

It’s all a matter of perspective, really.

The Brits get so little decent weather that they just htfu and get on with it. We look at what’s going on and think “that is a freakin’ weather disaster!” but the Brits are probably thinking “decent old day … might even go to the beach tomorrow.”

More power to ‘em. But I don’t envy their salty roads…

Well when MotoGP only comes to town (or in some cases, continent) once per year, there is nothing that’s going to make me miss it.

You just gotta dress for it. For example – Phillip Island last year I just wore my snow gear, no worries mate.

Saturday was absolutely gorgeous at the track. Sunday was shite though. Monday was okay. Tuesday following the race was amazingly nice out. All of London was outside sunbathing.

TT week just before the weather was great all week! “turned out nice again”.

P.s how brilliantly stereotypical a bunch of good stout English yeoman discussing the weather. It brings a lump to my throat!
