Is a masochistic ninja haunting VA dirt bike races?

Dailies -

A man dressed in a “ninja” outfit has been spotted lurking around children’s hare scramble races in Virginia this summer, in some instances positioning himself on the course itself, seemingly in an attempt to get the bikes to run over him. Now, a helmet-mounted GoPro has captured him emerging from a hiding place underneath leaves on a track just seconds before the rider runs into him. The “ninja” then flees, clearly in pain. WTF?

Members of the Virginia Championship Hare Scrambles Series report encountering the Ninja in various guises around Ruckersville and Reddy Hole. He’s dressed all in black, including a black balaclava and black New Balance Running Shoes. This video isn’t the first time he’s hidden in such a way that an accident is virtually guarunteed, he was spotted hiding on the blind side of jumps before discovering the hiding-under-leaves method of concealment.

The slow-mo take at the end of this video is particularly revealing. Two 150cc dirt bikes can be seen running over his hiding place before he pops out of the leaves and is hit by the third bike. Yes, he really was hiding under a pile of leaves smack in the middle of a scrambles course.

Because this is taking place at children’s races, which include not only the young participants, but also their families and at races that are spread over miles-long courses in isolated woods, this man’s behavior is obviously raising concerns among parents. Over at VCHSS, speculation as to his motives runs from getting off on sereptuitously observing children to getting off on being run over by children on dirt bikes to just generally being a crazy person. Loose plans are being made to search for him at future races in something forum members are quick to point out, “isn’t a lynch mob.”

Thanks for the tip, Mark.

    WTF indeed.

    This is pretty hilarious though.

  • jwinter

Humans can be really fucking strange.

      • Devin

WTF (checks the date – not April 1st) – More confused.

  • pplassm

I live in the area, and all the locals know about this guy. He used to hang out around Fredericksburg, but it’s difficult to ride there anymore. I guess he’s following the race series, now.

  • DoctorNine

    “MotoStalker! Your kungfu is WEAK!!”

  • todd

If this guy is anywhere near my kid,… god save him. he better be running a hell of a lot faster than that

  • MotoRandom

Is it that difficult to put some adults on full size motos and have them run the course just before the kids go? I know if my kid was out there I’d be demanding it. There is not someone in Sheriff’s Dept who can ride that could make this run, then catch the guy? Reckless endangerment to a minor? Please, oh please, do not let any kids get hurt before someone can figure out an EASY way to make this end fast. Jeeez.

    • Sean Smith

I get the feeling that this is one of those problems that will resolve itself. Let the crazy guy lay on the course; someone will eventually kill him with a bike.

      • MotoRandom

Yeah, I was kind of trying to imply that result without coming right out and saying it. I’m sure this guy has some sort of masochistic pain fetish but doesn’t want to risk permanent injury so he’s doing while the kids are out. I think a 180lb adult hauling ass on a 450cc might help him see the error of ways better than a 60lb kid putting along on a 50cc will. Just let physics resolve it.

        • Devin

Easy solution: Pre-ride with an R1200GSA.

          • aristurtle

            I’m thinking “Ural”.

            • 85gripen

              With ice racing tires.

      • austin_2ride

that sounds good but how do you think a kid will handle ever riding again knowing that he or she had killed someone. no matter how weird the persom or the act, they should be in jail and need to report as a sex offender when released.

  • Spencer

Looked to me like he was lying beside the trail and the first bike that hit him was off the trail. Still very weird!

  • Dennis

Thank you for this. My Friday is complete.

  • JasonP

Cant wait to hear the update on this story…”Creepy forest ninja beaten to death with CR80″

  • Gene

    Is he sponsored by Kawasaki?

    • robotribe

      You win this round, sir!

    • Wes Siler

I’m not convinced this isn’t part of the awful viral marketing campaign for the new ZX14.

      • dux

He certainly is fat enough to be a representation of that hokey ZX14 spy shot.

      • R.Sallee (Ninja 250)

Ha ha ha ha ha. If I read this thirty seconds earlier I’d have coffee all over my laptop.

      • Miles Prower [690 Duke, MTS 1100]

        So much awesome here.

  • robotribe

As much as I love laughing at the absurdity of it, I kind of feel sorry for this guy. I’m no psychologist, but my guess is he’s got some actual disorder in the bat-shit-crazy definition of the word.

I hope his lunacy is reserved for taking abuse and not the other way around. Otherwise, don’t forget your nunchucks, riders.

  • DougD

Seriously, though, this is not a lynch mob, folks … OK?

    • HammSammich

“Now, with that disclaimer out of the way, anyone who needs a pitchfork or a torch before we head out, please see Jesse at the registration tent. Let’s lock and load!”

      • zato1414

Yeah! Like hunting down Frankenstein’s Monster in the woods.

  • John

Can they send in a ringer with ice tires?

  • FiveG

Is he waiting to have a rich kid hit him and then sue the parents?

  • Audun

What to say to this? Well put a grown up on a 450 in between the kids and this problem should be solved soon! In all fareness, this person can not be in his right mind and I hope someone catch him before he hurts a kid!!

  • Scott-jay

    What’s crazy? You don’t play moto-Ninja?

  • slash5alive

Is thhis for real or some kinda HFL stunt? Seriously Fn messd up.

    • nick2ny

HFL does have a history of pulling awesome, creative stunts like this.

      • stempere

If the next maso-ninja video happens in a bathroom we’ll all know they were behind it…

  • T Diver

My ninja can’t go in the dirt. What a tool.

  • dux

Damn. I was hoping this would be a story about parallel twins making it back into enduro racing. Maybe next season.

    • Wereweazle

I actually came here expecting to hear about some guy on a sportbike tearing around a dirtbike track. I’m slightly disappointed.

  • zato1414

The first rider hit right smack dead on! #2 could have done burn-outs on his ass. Limping is good!!

  • damien

That is fucked. I must say, very polite kid. He asks the ninja if he’s ok after hitting him.

  • Jacob

    I don’t get it.

I know that’s a no-duh type response, but seriously, I don’t get it. He possibly takes two hits, then gets clunked into by the third kid, then staggers off?

Is he practicing his OPERATOR skills or something?

  • pplassm

He’s never really threatened anyone, and I think it was just a coincidence that he was on the kid’s course. He HAS been hit by larger bikes and still lives on. Nobody knows what his motivation is. He seems to like getting run over.

  • ktaisa

Best thing I’ve seen all year

  • FZR 1000 Alex

Who are we to question the ways of a ninja?

  • jason

Well, harmless now, but what if he grabs a kid? The potential for ” we should have seen it coming” is huge. Find this guy. I am sure dogs could follow the scent trail.

  • JaHo

sereptuitously? Serendipitously + Surreptitiously… it makes sense in an odd way.
