Ducati has put a name on its new superbike and announced its racing plans for the new model in a teaser video. The Ducati 1199 Panigale — named after a neighborhood in Bologna — will compete in the 2012 Superstock Championship, moving on to SBK in 2013. The official unveiling, as always, is scheduled for EICMA in November.

After the first 1,500 are sold to the Public, thereby covering much of the development costs, will those of us around the world who are not Surgeons, Personal Injury Attorneys, Celebrities or Drug Dealers be able to afford one in non-Ohlins suspension mode? Not Likely!
Oh, how I long for Ducati to take back their own paper (at a Honda-size, subsidized
rate, such as 4%). Oh, well…
