Ludovic Lazareth, Roland Sands, Marcus Walz customize VMAXs

Dailies, Galleries -

For EICMA this year, Yamaha commissioned Ludovic Lazereth of France, Marcus Walz of Germany and Roland Sands to build custom VMAXs. With mods limited to the aesthetic and bolt-on by the manufacturer, we’re not seeing anything too crazy here, just some clean restylings of the muscle cruiser. Roland’s take, though, is notable in its subversiveness; clip-ons, underseat exhaust and a bullet seat? A VMAX cafe racer?

    Diavel’s looking better now.

if you meant it like i understand it then that’s hilarious

    Metallica look is so 1980′s

I like the RSD bike, I would like it more if it wasn’t streched. It is streched right?

    • Felix

      Sure looks it.

    • Sean Smith

Nah, the swingarm really is that long from the factory. Roland intentionally built the bike to look that way.

  • JC

Tomwito looks stretched to me too, I think it’s about as tastefully kick ass as a VMAX can get. Major props to RSD on that undertail exhaust

This looks just like my night rod special. Best looking Yamaha I’ve ever seen.

  • Kirill

I can’t think of anything I hate more than an extended swingarm.

    • raphmay

      300mm wide rear tyres?

  • je

Minus the extended swing arm and wheel choice I would buy the RSD VMAX. Very cool, well done Roland but please stop with those wheels.

HFL do you know if RSD will be detailing what changes they made?

    • je

After looking at the pic and a pic of the 2012 Vmax it doesnt appear the swing arm is stretched.. Interesting thing would be to see it shortened, now that would be sex.

  • Beale

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually like the Lazereth one.

    • AHA

+1. Loving that Judge Dredd look.

I like RS and his get-up and go… but I have never liked any of his bikes. None look like they can handle the next curve in the road. Now he’s selling road gear, whats next, designer shorts to go along with the bike? Keep at it Roland!

With these plus the Diavel Cromo, it must be Ugly Day here at HFL.

Add in the three new Honda big-girls, and it’s Fattie Day as well!

  • Glenngineer

I don’t think any of these are stretched – a lot of work given the swingarm and final drive configuration.

I’d pound the brown one until it stinks. I say that all the time.

  • Contusion

The RSD bike is definitely the cleanest. The pipe routing is crazy.
