Watch Robbie Maddison jump 378′ on NYE

Robbie Maddison and Levi LaVallee traveled a combined 790’6” as they jumped side by side across the San Diego bay during Red Bull’s No Limits 2012 NYE. On his way to a new snowmobile jump record of 412.6′, Levi LaVallee’s GoPro caught this amazing footage of Robbie Maddison launching his YZ450F ‘only’ 378 feet, just short of the 392 he jumped while practicing and Ryan Cape’s 391′ record. Watch as LaVallee’s other GoPro dismounts from the snowmobile upon landing and records a wild light show before coming to a stop on the astroturf. Does Maddison’s failed record breaking attempt make this any less awesome? We don’t think so.

Damn, nice attitude control (of the bike) by Robbie…

And Levi makes it look like snowmobiles were designed to fly.

Sleds fly pretty well, you’d be surprised. Probably has something to do with the flat bottom. I’ve launched sleds over 60′ in my cousins backyard and I saw a racing sled clear a 100′+ gap jump at the local ski resort.

How the heck does a snowmobile go that far?

By going really fast up a steep ramp….

    • The other Joe
