Last week, we reviewed the 2012 Suzuki GSX-R1000 down at Homestead Speedway in Florida. Out on track that same day was AMA Pro Superbike rider Blake Young. In this video, he throws down a solid hot lap.

Nice! That track looks like a pretty serious workout with all those braking zones.

On second thought, after watching the Bayliss/1199 video, this is a lot less cool haha!

Quite the juxtaposition for media event.

Suzuki does a beat up track like Homestead with a Blake Young showing you around.

Ducati on the other had does Yas Marina with Troy Bayliss to show you around.

Basically. Made me appreciate my home track (NJMP) a bit more. No need to knock a top AMA guy though, those guys are world class.

I thought the same thing my Thunderbolt loving friend.

I wasn’t knocking Mr. Young. But there is a difference between putting a multiple championship winning superbike rider and an up and comping rider.

If you are Suzuki, you can’t really put Mladin out there in front of press to act nice, and you can’t ask Spies to help you push your bikes either, so you have to use new talent.

Ducati looks better, this one sounds better.

Depends on whether you prefer the sound of a ferocious tiger or a nest of angry hornets, I suppose. I find the sound of an I-4 at full tilt to be a bit teeth-grinding.

        • BMW11GS

I-4s always sound grating to me. then i imagine a high frequency tingle coming through the handlebars.

          • Greg

I’m a fan of the high RPM scream of the I-4′s…. to each their own.

            • Kevin

              Totally. Something for everybody.

I want to like the GSX-Rs, but do they have to look like sport versions of the Bandit?
