Pulling wheelies on the Burj al Arab’s helipad

Just 79 feet wide and dropping 690 feet to the ocean below, the helicopter pad hanging off the side of Dubai’s Burj al Arab is hardly the kind of place you or I would want to pull a wheelie, but that’s just what FMX athlete Danny Torres did yesterday to promote an upcoming round of Red Bull X-Fighters in the emirate. With the Burj Khalifa in the background, these are stunning photos.

Looks cool and scary, but did you see the video of the guy on the Colbert Report doing wheelies in traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel?

“Number One bike isn’t starting, you’ll have to use the spare, Danny.”

“I guess so. Is it good to go?”

“Sure is. But just keep an eye on the throttle, it’s a bit sticky…”

And, don’t ride outside the yellow circle.

Is this where your childhood ability to color within the lines is really important?

It’s remarkable how much Dubai looks like Coruescant.
