“Fujin (green: god of wind) and Raijin (red: god of thunder and lightening) are often portrayed as demons in pop culture but they are actually two of the earliest/oldest gods of Shinto religion and are sworn to protect Japan and it’s supreme god, the god of the Sun,” explains Canadian expat Mike Wyckoff. He built this custom Honda Forza as a tribute to Japan’s resilience post-earthquake.

Mike’s a long-time compatriot of AFG Moto, which imports Icon gear into Japan, so the scooter’s paint was made to accompany their Shakki helmet.

  • James

    Warning: may incite seizures

  • Edward

Not sure what to say – this is definitely a thing that exists.

  • The other Joe

    If I were doing a tribute, I don’t think I would use a scooter.

  • Bronson

It would be more awesome if it had a stereo system and the lights could be synced with the beats from one of Rat Pak Records’ songs.

    • Ax

Photo #5 shows what look like speaker enclosures.

  • Barry

Did anyone tell them it was a scooter?

  • http://www.muthalovin.com the_doctor

Man, the rider looks so tough in that next to last photo. So. Tough.

  • HammSammich

So, is this kind of the Scooter version of a Dekotora?

  • Bronson

Pic # 15/20 — I’d laugh my ass off if I saw that guy at a traffic light.

  • Zirq

Canadia might have free health care, but it also has that.

  • Vincent

    MY EYES, THEY BUUUURRRN.

  • BigRooster

How does this get written without the Wes snark we all know and love? If anything ever deserved to be mocked, this is it.

I don’t mind scooters, I can get over the seizure inducing graphics, I can even look past the tough guy posing, but neon and a dragon t-shirt?

Wyckoff-son – you bring great dishonor to Scooters everywhere, now take off, you hoser.

  • JVictor75

Seriously? We get 1000+ word essays about your opinions concerning all things cruiserdom but THIS is just supposed to be ok?

I can totally appreciate the thought, hard work, and intent but I reserve the right to laugh my ass off at the thug life wannabe badass flipping the camera off while standing next to this… thing.

I can almost hear the Linkin Park / Gorillaz mashup from here.

Icon should know better and has shown as both a company and a design firm that they CAN do better. So why this? And why now? And why, God why, a Honda Forza maxi-scooter?

    • DavidMG

Could someone explain to me the association between motorcyclists, pictures, and “the bird”?

Is this a thing? Why is it a thing?

  • nymoto

I dont know – its a piece of art, not really what I am into but can appreciate the effort, dedication, and crazy thought precess that went into it.
and it makes sense its a scooter for japan – the scooter culture in Japan is awesome.
    this thing is wild.

  • dux [87 CBR600, 95 XR600R]

That’s a pretty cool scooter. What else can I say?

    • Zirq

Nothing. Don’t say anything at all.

      Silence!

      • JVictor75

        (I keel you)

Why did I just read this last comment in Achmed’s voice?

        • Gene

          +1000! “Achmed is my co-pilot!”

  • Kevin

    Go, Japan.
    Go, artistic expression!

    Haters go home.

  • Gene

How has this not been posted to riceboypage.com yet?

  • jason

Just icky. Give that guy a Metal Mulisha chrome nazi lid.

  • DoctorNine

    Yes, I am laughing.
    No, it’s not ‘with you’.

  • Frosty_spl

I’m vacationing in Tokyo now. These big custom scooters are everywhere. And I think they are awesome!

  • oldblue

    Please add fire. Now.

  • Archer

I bet those full sleeve tats go just great in Japan. Not.

Must really suck never being able to go to an onsen.

    • Ax

I think those full sleeve tats may actually BE sleeves. In the large “flip off” photo, those sure look to me like seams on his forearms.

      • JVictor75

That proves it, and it actually makes sense.

It’s Howard Wolowitz from the Big Bang Theory. Those of you who watch the show, think about it: Fake Tattoo Sleeves + Skinny Jeans + Scooter = Howard trying to pull some more … *ahem* “companionship” one last time before his wedding to Bernadette.

Didn’t know that Icon was into cross promotion with NBC. Huh, weird.

      • Archer

Holy gaijinbatakusai Batman, you’re right! I never bothered to zoom in to that image.

  • The Other Will

Japan is a terrifying and fascinating place. Giant blinged out, chromed, slammed, chopped up maxi scoots is just one of the ways in which they are so weird. At the very least, you have to appreciate the work that goes into it.

Yeah. It’s a form of artistic expression from a culture that I don’t belong to or associate with .. sort of like donks, or low-riders. It looks really well done, I just don’t “get” it.
