“You gotta post up Rnickeymouse’s latest crash vid,” reads the text from Adey. “Guy rides up hillside, catches air, cracks engine case and tank. Now I’ve seen it all from that turn.” There’s not really much more to say. Bikes: learn how to ride them.

  • Erok

Do people drive around in trucks to pick up crashed bikes there, kind of like they do here in Minnesota during the winter, to make some extra cash?

  • Jon B.

Flip-up helmet and full leathers? ^_^

    • http://hellforleathermagazine.com Grant Ray

At least the guy was decked in full leathers with a full-face, even if it was a modular. Otherwise he most likely would have died when the force of impact rammed his head onto edge the wind screen. He got seriously lucky.

That said, the dude clearly needs to downgrade to the WeeBR and learn how to go fast on a slow bike.

      • Jon B.

That wasn’t lost on me. Was wondering if perhaps he borrowed the bike or was a tourist or something. Seemed so not normal.

      • mike

Yeah. a Jet helmet would change the outcome on that wouldn’t it.

  • pplassm

Apparently, lots of folks hang out there with cameras just to get the next viral cock-up.

    • zerospry

I think that’s part of it – seems like it’s a good corner for both watching cool cars/bikes roll by and watching people crash said cars/bikes. Go flip through some of rnickey’s other videos – he’s got videos of just folks rolling by without any crashes. I think Jay Leno even stops by to chat in one of them.

    R6 /= YZ250

Would have been much better if he walked away in slo-motion, lighting a cigarette, and then tossing the lit match over his shoulder. BOOM BABY. New bike time.

    • GoFasterPB

I don’t smoke, but I might just start carrying a cig and matches for just that scenario.

      • Bronson

Yeah, that would have been pretty awesome.
“F that turn, F that bike. I’m outta here!”
Light the match, toss it, then BOOM!

    • http://www.tripleclamp.net Sasha Pave

That would be epic, of course he can’t look back and remain emotionless while the bike explodes.

  • http://www.amarokconsultants.com michael uhlarik

I get first dibs on those calipers.

    • http://www.postpixel.com.au mugget

Okay, I gotta ask… why? You got a caliper fetish or something? (Not that there’s anything wrong with that, and I’m not judging!)

Or because they’re the only good part left on the bike?
      LOL

      • Jerry Guy

R6 monobloc calipers are a popular mod for pretty much every sportbike from the land of the rising sun.

  • Bryan Whitney

    Mulholland Stuntaz!!!!! woot woot!

    • Bronson

Redbull needs to disguise some of their freestyle MX guys in leathers and R6s then ride up there and hit that shit for real. Now THAT would make for even better video.

  • JMcMahon

If he stayed in the gas do you think he could have rode up the side of the cliff face?

    • noone1569

I was thinking about that the first time I watched this video on rideit. I think he could have stuck the landing if he did, but obviously, he freaked out. I can’t blame him though.

  • Glenngineer

I like watching crash videos after I crash. I dumped my Strom two fridays ago… broken clavicle, four ribs. I was in full gear and going quite a bit slower than that dude. There is much luck in crashing.

    • http://www.TroyRank.com Troy R

A friend broke his leg in 2 places in a motorcycle “accident”, someone knocked a ninja 250 onto him with his back turned at 0mph… he’s an MSF instructor… Sometimes you get lucky…

      • El_Jefe

Damn that sucks. Now he knows why they teach to never turn your back on the bikes.

  • muckluck

should have had a motard he could have ridden out of the cliff situation

  • BMW11GS

Ugh, there is an ever scarier movie where he films cars trying to drift or whatever around that corner and driving completely sideways in the opposite lane or brazingly crossing over. That is why I only go there on weekdays now.

    • Brad

Ah, yup. I posted the video you mentioned on a local bike email list with the title “Reasons to avoid the Snake.”

  • http://lightsoutknivesout.tumblr.com/ Scott Pargett

    Hahaha, YES!

  • http://www.firstgenerationmotors.blogspot.com Emmet

damage doesn’t look too bad… until you see the bike pissing gas and oil everywhere!

  • http://www.BrewSmith.com.au dux [87 CBR600, 95 XR600R]

Not a bad start to his new career in Trials riding.

    • http://www.postpixel.com.au mugget

Everyone has to start somewhere… but even in trials you’re supposed to stay on the bike!

  • http://www.postpixel.com.au mugget

I like the video description: “rider saves it but then goes straight up the hillside”. So, rider saves it, but doesn’t save it…

I’m curious to know what he was doing before leaving the road, sounded like some revving and skidding – did he just flip out and go into survival mode?

Or maybe he rode up the hillside to avoid a crash!
    Hahaha

    • http://rider49er.blogspot.com Mark D [EX500]

There was a moment between “overcooking the turn with poor body position and lack of commitment” and “driving a sport-bike up a rocky sand cliff”, where the bike’s quantum state was “saved”. Just because it was technically instantaneous doesn’t mean it didn’t exist.

      • Scott-jay

And, I shall dwell in the quantum state of saved forever.
        Amen.

    • Gene

“I thought I could save it until mud and grass started coming in around the face shield.”

  • Johndo

    Those bikes handle terrible off-road.

  • zato1414

That slow-motion was great! Caught on camera.

  • James

    Target fixation is a motherfucker.

  • http://www.tripleclamp.net Sasha Pave

If that rock wasn’t there I bet he could have walked away with a few scrapes.

  • kidchampion

What’s happening in the first 1.5 seconds? It seems like he’s revving the engine while holding the front break – and then letting go. The moment he spots the photographer is the best.

  • CCarey

I wonder which hurt worse after bouncing off that rock, the pride or the plums?
