2013 BMW R1200GS leaks from Intermot show floor

The 1,170cc 2013 BMW R1200GS will weigh 20lbs more than the outgoing model, while making 14bhp and 3lb/ft of torque more than the outgoing model, according to cell phone shots snapped by Dutch site Oliepeil the day before the Intermot show opens in Cologne.

Do the specs listed in these photos reveal anything else to our more lederhosen and schnitzel-oriented readers?

    Thanks Wes. A little better than the rendering…but awfully familiar (read 800GS). I was kinda hopefully for something on the different side. Not liking that big exhaust either. New MTS is looking like the adventure of choice

      Furreals? The MTS seems like the least ADV of them all.

        Yes, but I was thinking adventure motif…because prolly 10% of owners actually go off road. I think the MTS could be the best motorcycle available – and tours as well as the GS. This looks a little too much like rest of the GS lineup. I guess the logic is why mess around with success. I was hoping for something a little bolder. As Kerry says below, the GS’s seem to be devolving.

          True story. I’ve done more hairy off road stuff on my Speed Triple than most “adventure” bike owners ever will.

    A lot more incremental on the motor than I had hoped…seems like the KTM 1190 will steal its thunder, even the updates on the Multi are more interesting. Doesn’t seem to fend off the Triumph very well…

    That beak now manages to not only be ugly, but cheap looking too. Maybe they should try to hire the people who designed the Stelvio.

    As a thirteen year owner of an 1150GS I can just say that these bikes just keep getting uglier every year.

      I own a 1992 R100GS and it is a really handsome machine for something in dogdick red. They started getting ugly soon thereafter with some terrible graphics and color combos.

      I wonder if most of it is from the exhaust cannister being heavier?

        I was thinking the extra plumbing for water cooling.

          that is maybe 10 lbs I believe if done right. In theory some of the engine castings should can now be made lighter weight along with reducing some weight via unit construction.

    I think the previous generation was prettier, but I’m really interested to see if this is an interim take on the water boxer -everything I’ve seen has bee pointing to the new engine being a 1250.

    Looks like a Tiger 800 to me. I’d like to see that shootout. I don’t buy the bigger is better argument. To me an 800 is too big for an adventure bike.
