A first-hand Aprilia Caponord 1200 walkaround

Dailies, Import -

We can’t tell you much about the Aprilia Caponord 1200 until tomorrow, but the sneaky Dutchmen at Oliepeil captured it exposed on the EICMA stage with their video camera.

This is what I had wished my 995i Tiger looked like. Not sexy, but not nearly as ugly…call it utilitarian practical. The deal breaker is if the panniers (or at least one of them) will hold a full face helmet.

The panniers resemble an Aprilia Futura’s, which could accommodate my size L Arai RX-7 Corsair.

I was going to guess Norge. It’s hard to tell, but they look close to me. Maybe cheaper than designing new bags.

This and an RSV4, would be a sweet stable.

    Meh. 2-wheeled Murano.

I actually do need something that can handle dirt roads and enormous potholes. And won’t make me cry unendingly when it hits the ground, like it will.

That’s a great analogy! It certainly is ugly enough to be in the Murano camp.

Years ago, there used to be a (1st gen.) Caponord parked outside the office every day. I got to really like the looks of that bike. It was a matt warm grey and in great condition – unlike every other example I’ve seen since. (Aprilias tend not to age gracefully it seems.)
Made me get my full licence but I never bought one – the world had moved on. Not sure the new version will hit the same spot. We’ll see I guess…
