Calm down there. This KTM 1290 SuperDuke R isn’t quite a production bike, yet. Instead, it’s a fully-functional concept. A bored-out version of the RC8′s v-twin yields 180bhp. Listen to it startup below.

    Suddenly regretting buying my CB1000R.

    • Bruce Steever

No, you’re not. You can get parts for your CB-R, if it ever even needs them.

      • PenguinScotty

The argument of not getting parts for KTMs in the states has gotten pretty worn out. Few years ago? yup. Now? Nope.

        • Benjamin Watkins

Yup. I’ve been riding a 990 SMT for several months now. Finding parts is pretty durn easy, and surprisingly inexpensive for most (especially compared to something like Ducati).

          • Beewill

I never had too many troubles finding anything I need for my 950 ADV, but then again I avoid the dealership like the plague and know where to go to buy what I need.

            • Bronson

Yeah, seriously. I’ve had two KTM supermotos for the last 5 years now (525 SMR & 625 SMC) and never once had any issues getting parts for them.

After some consideration I stand by my CB. At $5700 (new) I have a feeling I saved about $10k over one of these. And legal fees for a fistful of traffic violations of course.

How the heck did you get a CB1000R for $5700 new?

  • Groomez

When a bike gets intro’d by Toby Moody, watch out.

  • http://www.twowheelsplus.com/ Anders

It’s not a motorcycle it’s an extreme sport

    • http://hellforleathermagazine.com Wes Siler

      Ha, awesome.

  • zero

    Well that’s aggressive. Dig it.

  • AHA

Looks like the classic KTM orange is morphing to a hotter, more reddish hue; more fluorescent and more attitude. We like.

Only mad Austrians would put a bar instead of clip-ons on that thing. Love it.

That looks like a damned fine way for me to lose my license.

  • http://www.TroyRank.com Troy R

It Looks like incarceration on wheels…

    • Bronson

      Nice

  • Glenngineer

They way the handlebars and forks rise up from behind the headlight/housing thing is really, really unsightly.

    • http://www.facebook.com/beastincarnate Ben W

Agreed, though it does continue line from the extreme slope of the tank.

Also interesting how the headlight housing has a similar shape to the traditional droopy Brutale headlight.

      • http://www.twowheelsplus.com/ Anders

        It’s not a headlight, it’s a HD camera..

        • http://www.facebook.com/beastincarnate Ben W

True. Still, that’ll be a headlight in production trim.

    • Miles Prower [690 Duke, MTS 1200]

The lines remind me of a vulture.

But funny enough, I still find this hunchback bird aesthetic captivating.

I’d love an all-white one — white plastic, white frame, white subframe, white wheels, white headlight/semi-beak.

  • http://twitter.com/metabomber Jesse

“Just look at that, well until we obscure it with a bit of smoke.”

  • kat

holy hot sex on wheels. Jesse and Troy R – I was thinking the same thing. my supermoto hasn’t landed me in jail just yet, so i need to step up to this…

  • webbiker

Holy crap. The fellow unveiling it just could not be bothered to be even little excited or interested. Hot bike nevertheless.

  • Bruce Steever

I think Contour (or GoPro) camera mounts should be standard or factory accessories, especially on bikes like this.

Integrate the controller into the handlebar controls and you’d be set.

That way, you’ll make some great video, enjoy the bike even more, and make it easier for the state to prosecute.

  • NewOldSchool

    Insane. Want.

I don’t think a front wheel is even necessary at this point.

  • Charles

Is that one exhaust output under the belly.and another out the back?

    • Scott Jones

Yeah, equal length for each cylinder no doubt.

  • http://www.muthalovin.com the_doctor

Holy balls, that thing is amazing. I love the wheels.

    • twinsrule

LOL. I was just going to say I was not a fan of the paint job on those… To each his own.

  • PenguinScotty

Insanely aggressive and in your face. I do hope that they change the light-setup for production. It’s definitely not proportional to the rest of the bike.

Definitely a major jump in what they usually make. Will be interesting to see the specs and features on it.

Wait, wha? Are they using some kind of remote start in the video? He never pushes the start or kill buttons.

    • roccopeterbilt

I noticed this too. Must be attached to the podium which could limit it’s readability and range.

Needs a new name, how about: MOTHERFUCKER 1290
