Kate Moss and Matchless Motorcycles

Matchless, Britain’s oldest motorcycle brand, is launching its debut clothing collection and has draped Kate Moss over Marlon Brando’s ride from the The Wild One for its first ad campaign.

Kate Moss.

Matchless was bought by the former owners of Belstaff, the Malenotti brothers – Michele and Manuele – earlier this year. “We are delighted to be working with Kate Moss on this first Matchless advertising campaign for this new era of the brand,” said Michele – speaking in his role as Matchless’ marketing and business expansion director. “We feel her spirit and personality fit the brand perfectly and this is clearly conveyed in the campaign.”

It’s great to see the Matchless name return, but it is a shame to see another legendary marque diluted into an expensive fashion brand, with the first collection featuring a leather jacket priced between £900 to £1,300, and a washed cotton jacket ranging between £600 to £900.

Terry Richardson shooting I see. Cool stuff.

Was it his idea to lay a motorcycle on its side? That’s just stupid. Conveys tipped, crashed, or just plain I don’t know what a motorcycle is.

guessing you don’t know who terry richardson is….

        • karlInSanDiego

Come on. This is supposed to be a Motorcycle blog, but every corner you turn it reeks of metro fashion blog. Nobody knows who Terry Richardson is unless you read US or People magazine or you tried to get fresh with one of your photography subjects and she accused you of being Terry Richardson. Still a stupid position to photograph a motorcycle in, and no it doesn’t look like Kate’s doing the bike, so it’s not erotic in the least, at least not to me. And shouldn’t that read Waxed Cotton and not washed cotton above?

Feel free to skip any stories not focused on motorcycle racers, new bike models, or bike specs (all currently on the front page since you had such a hard time digging through the metro fashion bullshit).

If that is too much work, there are plenty of other sites that may have views of what motorycle/lifestyle content is that are more in line with what you are looking for. Just stop being angry Damien Gaudet and I for knowing who Terry Richardson is.

You must be new. It’s gotten continually LESS fashion and style oriented around here in the last year or so.

I thought Brando was on a Triumph in the Wild One?

    • http://www.facebook.com/michael.howard.9889 Michael Howard

He was. Apparently there were some promo shots taken with him on various other bikes and people who don’t know any better are parroting mistaken info.

Yes original Thunderbird. That name sounds so lame, now. Ok, Michele and Manuele Malenotti, now take the Matchless name, sell it to an indian software magnate and let’s get Matchless back into production to rival Royal Enfield in the battle to remoto the world with fuel efficient bikes for the everyman and boy racer alike. Bonus points if you manage to open the factory in Plumstead, Birmingham, or the hallowed grounds of Wolverhampton.

Why give oxygen to an old washed-up has been? To sell a marketing image based on zero? There is a fair chance any cash will end up a nose or in a vein.Kate’s body language and pose in the lower image shows what person she is after to buy logos on (Pakistani ?) leather.

The Pure and Perfect Kate. The haters go back to your horrid ugly lives.

Brando rode his own (personally owned) Triumph Thunderbird in the movie.
