World Exclusive: First Official 2014 KTM 1290 Super Duke R Photos and Specs
Holy moly!
We just snagged the very first official images, specs an full details of the highly, highly anticipated 2014 KTM 1290 Super Duke R. And, we're extremely excited to report that this is one bike that has not been watered down. That's right: 180 mother loving horsepower.
That power comes from a 1,301cc, 75-degree V-twin developing 106 lb.-ft. of torque and drives a dry weight of 416 lbs. Bore and stroke are 108 and 71mm. This is the most powerful naked production bike in the world, if not the lightest. That power-to-weight ratio is enough to push it from zero to 124 mph in just 7.2 seconds. This thing is going to be insane.

That capacity isn't just used for peak figures though. 1.3 liters means huge torque at low revs. Specifically 74lb-ft at just 2,500rpm. The motor redlines at 12,000rpm. Despite such impressive numbers, it shouldn't be a maintenance nightmare. Service intervals are 9,300 miles apart.
It'll slow down too. Braking comes from the same Brembo M50 Calipers and 320mm discs as the Ducati 1199 Panigale S, just with one big difference: Supermoto Mode! That disables ABS at the rear, enabling you to back it into corners. No word on whether or not the bike as Bosch's new cornering ABS system, but that company is supplying the ABS system, so fingers crossed. A slipper clutch should help keep things upright, regardless.
Also keeping things safe is ride-by-wire and traction control. Switchable riding modes run the gamut typical "Sport" and "Rain" to the never-before-seen "Supermoto."
