Really cool bike! I love this new street/track hybrid category that seems to really be catching on in the motorcycle world. Of course these bikes are slanted more towards the street, but that’s where most bike live 95% of the time.

Unrelated note – The song choice in that video was BRUTAL!

  • adeysworld

The chorus of the song should of been “Poor Fueling…I don’t care! I want it!” Like ever other MV released to date.

That’s just a problem in America. MV Agusta is terribly disorganized in this country and very small, the map they put on to meet EPA receives virtually no development and is awful as a result. Any decent dealer (like Pro Italia) should be able to sort them.

Haha it’s worth all the annoying glitches because they’re such purdy looking bikes. At least the major issues I had with fueling on the b675 are gone after the latest mapping update from PI.

      • grb

So your saying that all the fuss about the fueling in this MVs is a case similar to the ZX10Rs making less power in the US (shouldn’t say “america”, sound ignorant, no offense) do to EPA regulations? have you guys had a go on an european brutale/whatever? notice any improvement in the fueling? I think I remember mcn pointing out the fueling in the MVs being terrible…

        • http://RideApart.com/ Wes Siler

Fueling was awful on early F4s, but it’s totally sorted now. I’ve ridden a Brutale 675 in Europe and it was as good as any stock Japanese bike.

This bike would have been a compelling option, if Triumph and Yamaha didn’t have better Triples at cheaper price.

    • Piglet2010

The real competition for the Rivale 800 is the Ducati Hypermotard.

      • Rameses the 2nd

You are probably right. If I were into naked sports bike, I might pay more attention to this class. I might buy FZ-09 as a second bike, because it is so cheap and it is a completely different bike than my classic Triumph. I just don’t see myself paying $15,000 for something this transformarish.

  • Aakash

The promo vid is funny. Imagine trying to explain why your apartment neighbor is riding with you AND your Rivale on the elevator to the ground floor: “It’s ‘Motorcycle Art’ and I like to stare at it while I cuddle with Bitsy, my pomeranian, on the couch”.

To that end, I don’t find much of artistic merit in the Rivale’s styling. I do like the signature low pipe trio, the styling line that takes you from the headstock to the tail and the very nicely incorporated low profile rear fender. Other than that, not a particularly ravishing motorbike to look at (at least on e-paper).

    • pdad13

Gotta agree. I actualy like this a bit better than the shots of the concept bike I saw, although they’re very similar. Like the silhouettte, but it’s a bit overstyled to me.

  • sixgunsteve

Hey, WTF is up with the new ads that if happen to park your mouse over them for a few seconds it opens an ad page that takes over what you’re reading and you can’t ‘X’ out of it? I was an HFL subscriber from back when you had to pay, there weren’t any ads, two-page stories to increase click count and horizontal pictorials. I still enjoy reading, but come’on you’re getting further from that raw, edgy motonews that we used to enjoy and closer to that polished, corporate review-generating monolith that dominates the periodicals rack at your local (failing) book seller.

    • shamowfski

      adblock

  • kentaro

After reading about the new EBR, all other torque figures seem pathetic.

    • Stuki

And at least those guys won’t skimp on fueling fr the US market

  • Corey Cook

Even though it’s going to be atrociously expensive after all the import tariffs and dealers fees, that is one drop dead BEAUTIFUL motorcycle!

I just don’t understand why they gave this hypermotard-ish version nice predictable handling like a street standard should have, yet gave street standard (brutale) sharp squirrely handling like a hypermotard usually has? Did they realize that they effed up with the B3?

Either way, this thing is a stunner!

  • kevin

Fantastically beautiful looking thing. Like every MV really. Even though the fueling will probably suck and something like a ducati Streetfighter or Triumph Speed Triple R will probably be less expensive and a factually ‘better’ motorcycle, I’d still own one if I had money to throw around.

    • Stuki

In my, seemingly minority, view, MVs are beautiful when viewed purely as sculpture, but tend to look pointlessly overstyled when viewed as motorcycles. A bit like Lamborghinis, and some Ferraris.

  • Jason 1199

    Two questions.

    1. Is this coming to Canada (local dealer hadn’t heard any news)

    2. Have they addressed the god awful fueling present on EVERY model they sell?

  • Philip Heung

Sorry, still can’t deal with that beak.

  • GG

The designers have seen too many Japanese anime.

    • Reid

Wouldn’t look out of place at all in “Bubblegum Crisis,” would it? I can dig it though.

      • GG

Or in Stand Alone Complex too…

  • ClassB4Ass

Can we get a Comparison FZ vs Hyper vs Rivale ?

  • Guy Simmonds

Those wing mirrors look great for admiring your own elbows with…

  • El Isbani

Wow. Italian motos seem to all look awesome. No matter what.

  • Piglet2010

I hate anything that auto-plays, and anything activated without a mouse click.

  • Mark Trimmer

    Sweet!
