Right price range, no gaudy logos (on the black model, they disappear) 2XL usually fits (although sport fit usually implies a tight cut, 3XL to start I think). I’m not in the market right now, but Icon’s gear will be the first place I look, given the mostly upbeat reviews and comments here.

Icon usually does a “Stealth” colorway of their jackets, which turns everything to black on black on black. Logos and color blocking just go away, leaving a pretty well built jacket at a good price without all the jarring advertising. It’s why I bought this, with the upgraded back armor.

That is good looking. But I’ve fallen for the 1000 Chapter jacket. It comes in grey. That’s the first good looking jacket I’ve seen in my favorite color in years. I can live with those shoulder flashes. I may blow my refund on one, just in case they mysteriously vanish.

I really like the styling of this jacket. That said, it lacks vents, limiting its usefulness in warm weather. Meanwhile, it lacks a full sleeve liner…limiting its usefulness in cold weather. Needs more versatility for that kinda money.

I’ll take my jacket without a removable liner, thank you very much. I have an assortment of mid-layers, from hiking gear to Gerbing’s, that offer more performance and comfort, on or off the bike, than the chintzy liners that come in most riding jackets, and do it without the unnecessary zippers and snap closures. Just save the few bucks of materials and manufacturing costs and put ‘em elsewhere in the jacket.

But yeah, a few vents would be nice. Along the seams at the sleeves, chest, and rear, the could be very discreet, but they’d add a lot of versatility.

Yeah, I can see the advantages of layering vs. having the liner installed. But from a commuting standpoint, it’s nice to get where I’m going, pull off 1 layer, and be done with it. And also only having to keep track of 1 layer.

That being said, that part isn’t necessarily a deal breaker. But the vents (or rather, lack thereof)…yeah, that one is.

Icon is my oem pick for non outrageously priced gear that understands style to go along with function. Their stuff is more stylish, with less goofy logos, dragons, skulls etc. I have the patrol jacket for winter, amazing, the chapter 1000 jacket for 3 season, amazing, and planning on getting a pair of the beltway pants. Great stuff, reasonably priced.

I like that Icon Device does *not* look like something The Fonz would wear.
