The Ducati Monster 1100 and Ducati Monster 1100S have just been unveiled. Both come with Monster 696 styling; a single-sided swingarm; two huge, ugly exhaust;, and the 95bhp, 79.5lb/ft 1100cc air-cooled desmo twin from the Hypermotard and Multistrada.

Update: The Monster 1100 will be priced around $12,000 in the US, while the 1100S will come in at $14,000. Both prices are in line with the Hypermotard 1100 and 1100S.

Compared to the Monster 696 (which weighs 161kg dry, makes 80bhp and
50.6lb/ft) the 1100 weighs only 8kg more, while making an extra 15bhp
and 28.9lb/ft of torque.

The 1100S gains USD Öhlins forks with radial Brembos; an Öhlins rear
shock; and carbon cam covers, exhaust endcaps and mudguard to reduce
the weight 1kg to 168kg/370lbs (dry).

The standard model will be offered in red, silver and black; while the S will come in either white or red.

The new, single-sided swingarm is our favorite addition and the
Hypermotard-style wheels are also pretty cool, but we're holding out
for the all-new "cross between a Tuono, Brutale and fits between Monster and Hypermotard." Which uses the outgoing water-cooled 1099cc
1098 engine (there's a 2009 Ducati 1198 replacing the old superbike).
