Triumph has expanded the Bonneville lineup yet again with the Street Cup, a factory cafe racer/street tracker in the vintage British tradition.

Triumph says the oddly named Street Cup offers “new distinctive urban sports features, including an authentic bullet seat and removable cafe racer seat cowl, racing inspired fly screen, and bar-end mirrors."

The Street Cup gets custom paint schemes and distinctive hand applied coach-lining. The ergonomics emphasize the sporting focus, with an engaged riding position that should speak to agile handling. The layout includes dropped ‘Ace’ bars, unique RSUs, new Nissin twin piston sliding front caliper, and floating disc.

Triumph boldly claims the Street Cup is targeted directly at the sport bike market. The bike features the 900cc High Torque Bonneville engine, which Triumph says is perfect for urban blasts and twisty backroad rides. The dedicated shorter and lighter twin satin black and stainless steel upswept silencers are designed to offer a unique raw, rich and full soundtrack. (Though, when British racing legend Carl Fogarty revved the engine at Triumph's Intermot press conference we were less than impressed)

Meanwhile, the bike also possesses rider-focused technology such as ride-by-wire, switchable traction control, ABS, and a torque assist clutch.

The “urban sports custom street racer” was inspired by the club racing scene, and designed to deliver all the attitude, personality, presence and style of a contemporary custom cafe racer for today’s riders. The café racer inspired seat cowl is painted with number plate graphics, and is easily removed to reveal a pillion seat area.

Other touches include the color-matched fly-screen with matching graphic, bar-end mirrors with forged arms, Thruxton R style foot pegs and Sporty fork protectors, replacing the Street Twin’s classic fork gaiters. The Street Cup also gets pin-striped wheels, gold colored engine badges and unique decals and Triumph tank badges. In terms of paint schemes there are a couple of two-tone options to choose from: either Racing Yellow and Silver Ice with Jet Black hand-applied coach lining and Racing Yellow wheel pin-striping, or Jet Black and Silver Ice with Gold hand-applied coach lining and Gold wheel pin-striping.

Compared to the Street Twin, the rider is seated slightly higher and further back and the handlebar position is lower and slightly further forwards. This delivers a more engaged riding position and also improves physical turn in. Longer shocks raise the back end and steepen the head angle, which enhances the bike’s agility for direction changes. The engine is specifically tuned to deliver performance just where you need it, with an 18 percent increase in peak torque and up to 22 percent greater horsepower in the mid-range than the previous generation engine, with peak torque figures of 80 Nm at 3200 rpm.

The latest generation anti-lock braking system introduces a new level of safety and control, Triumph says, yet remains unobtrusive and with minimal visual impact. Switchable traction control, accessed via the instrument menu, helps to maximize rider safety and comfort. A torque-assist clutch reduces clutch lever effort, bringing a lighter touch and feel to the clutch and making it easier to ride.
