When a chef needs to get around town in Belgium he has a few options. He could jump on a train, slide into a cab or simply hop on a pedal-mobile. But all that is boring and life is short. So this lovely 1981 BMW R100 belongs to a chef that appreciates the details just as much as the food he creates.

Kevils Speedshop is the brawn behind the beauty of this installment of Bike of the Week. Kris, the chef we mentioned earlier, needed a cruiser and put the Kevils crew to task to create a bike inspired by Riva Speedboats. Rich wood accents and even more luxurious paint schemes could help add even more class on two wheels. Sprinkle some chrome and you've got a killer set up and an even better story behind how your bike was conceived.

To bring a personal touch to the bike, opposed to taking a trip to the local chrome shop was to have all the cast alloy components vapour blasted. This gives a lovely sating luster that matches the bright silver powdercoated framework, and was perfect for the brief on this build. The turquoise paint is actually “almond green” from the Ruby Helmets colour catalogue, which was originally to match a new helmet Kris had wanted, but in the end he got a black one.

The subframe, block-like seat and integrated luggage rack all sit very high on this build, as Kris is quite tall. This was matched with high mountings for the front and rear fenders and braced bars with a higher sweep than usual.

As with all Kevils bikes, this was a full, ‘nut & bolt, ground-up build’  with every part refreshed, rebuilt, replaced or upgraded, using many of Kevil’s own parts.

Head over to The Bike Shed to the skinny on this killer beast.
